"Enriching Lives and Building Community Through the Arts."
Incorporated: 1986 in MO
COCA-Center of Creative Arts is a multidisciplinary arts organization committed to enriching lives and building community through the arts. Simply put, it positions itself as a hub for learning in and through the arts - for all ages, all skill levels, and all backgrounds. COCA seeks to nurture people's artistic and creative potential to foster success, and advances its mission by serving a diverse population of 50,000 engaged learners throughout the St. Louis region, through meaningful arts experiences, including: classes, camps, performances, arts-integrated professional development for teaching artists/classroom teachers, arts-integrated residencies in schools, advanced training for our student companies, art & design exhibitions, as well as corporate learning engagements. As the 4th largest multidisciplinary arts organization in the country, with a broad range of experiences accessible to the recreational patron and conservatory student alike, COCA has, over 26 years, developed high-quality programs with deep impact - nurturing not only talents in the arts, but also building critical thinking skills required to be successful in the 21st century. COCA firmly believes that the arts can be a bridge to unite a community, and embodies this mission by drawing audiences and students from 178 ZIP codes, representing a wide range of socioeconomic, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. With access as a core value, COCA has been diligent in its effort to bring the arts to low-income schools and communities in the region, and has provided over $800,000 in free arts education annually to more than 5,000 under-resourced students in the St. Louis area. COCA was awarded national accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Precollegiate Arts Schools, making COCA only one of 17 institutions accredited nationally for non-degree instruction in the arts, and the only one in the state of Missouri.
