Problems with Product/Service

Complaint: In 2010 FMW told me it was not necessary to file an Income Tax return for my mother, ***** * ******, because she was in a nursing home. I trusted their judgement. Every year FMW estimated the amount of tax's my mother would owe for the following year on the income tax return. I protested to no avail. They said it had to be done like this or "the IRS would come back on us". In 2009, I paid my Mom's income tax for the following year (2010). In 2010 I paid her income tax's (estimated) for the following year of 2011. (I took over as her POA in 2009). My Mom died in 2011. My Mom did not owe these tax's. FMW will not help me. Because of their negligence, error and apathy, the IRS says it is too late for her to receive the refund that is due for her. This is not neglect on my part. FMW made this error and will not correct it.
Desired Settlement: Correct the error and file an appeal.
Business Response: Representative of deceased client did not provide a copy of the IRS correspondence until after the statute of limitations had run out to file for a refund. We were unable to help the client at that time.
This is a lie! The first and only time I've received anything from the IRS regarding this was in 2014. I then submitted the request to FMW. ASAP.
The IRS notice was brought in when received as stated by the client. Most likely notices were sent to the deceased client but were not received by the executor. It was past the stature of limitations to file for refunds when the notice was sent out by the IRS and delivered to our office. We could not help the client. I will provide no more responses to this complaint.
