BBB Issues "Buyer Alert" List

July 23, 2010

BBB serving the South Plains of West Texas has issued a list of “F” rated local businesses and urges consumers to check its online “Buyer Alert” list frequently. Businesses on this list generally earn a failing grade by refusing to respond to a written complaint filed with BBB, having two or more unresolved complaints, and/or an ongoing pattern of complaints, or has been untruthful in advertising practices.

The “Buyer Alert” list provides consumers with up-to-date information on how businesses are performing in the marketplace. BBB ratings reflect BBB's opinion about the business based on information in BBB files and BBB experience. In addition, BBB suggests businesses check their BBB report frequently to be sure there are no outstanding issues.

“BBB encourages best practices and urges consumers to check out a business’ Reliability Report ™ before they do business,” said Nan Campbell, president of BBB South Plains. “This new list helps consumers quickly identify those businesses with a failing grade.”
