Our files contain a pattern of complaints from consumers that allege deceptive sales practices, stating they received either a marketing email or a phone call, then asked if they would be interested in being included in a Who's Who directory. Consumers allege they are offered incentives such as plane tickets that aren't received. In some instances consumers state that once they sign up they are unable to use the website and they have a difficult time reaching customer service. Consumers state that once they pay for the services, they are then informed they have a no refund policy, of which there was no mention of prior to making the payment.
Covington Who's Who responds to these complaints by apologizing as well as reaching out to the consumer so that they may reach an amicable resolution.
On November 7, 2013 BBB sent correspondence to Covington Who's Who requesting their voluntary cooperation in resolving complaints on file with BBB and providing steps it will implement to eliminate the pattern of customer complaints.
On December 27, 2013 Covington Who's Who responded to BBB's concerns stating the following "We strive to have member support our top priority. We already have in place an answering service for after hour's calls, which we return phone calls within 24 business hours. We have a LIVE chat feature so members can go directly
online (even without a User ID and password), they can either speak with someone or
open a ticket for help. We have email addresses listed on the website and welcome
package. We also have a member support team that handles all phone calls, and on our
voicemail messages we advise the members of multiple ways to reach us.
Our website is very easy for members to use and navigate through. and the LIVE chat feature pops up on all visitors. Member receives their log in credentials within 24 business hours, we send out a paid statement and a welcome letter as well. We
identified an issue with member's not receiving this welcome packet due to it going to
the junk or spam folder. We are now advising members to add us to the email address
book to allow the emails to go to the correct place. We record all of our calls for quality
and control purposes, and each call is monitored. The restrictions on the airfare are
mentioned twice in conversation and during the close. Each and every member received, they have a USER ID and PASSWORD and they go online and get the voucher.
BBB will continue to monitor the complaints on file for Covington Who's Who and update the review as needed.
