Our file contains a pattern of complaints from consumers alleging that Florida Window & Door has failed to complete their projects on time, in some cases making consumers wait for months. Consumers state they have repeatedly called or emailed Florida Window & Door for updates on completion but do not receive a response to their inquiries.
Florida Window & Door responds to these complaints with an explanation of what is causing the delay and attempts to reschedule installation.
On January 24, 2013 Florida Window & Door responded to BBB's concerns. In specific reference to the delay in projects, Florida Window & Door states several of the initial complaints were caused by the change in Building Codes during the second quarter of 2012. As a result, the Notice of Acceptance of products which is required to receive a permit were not updated in the city database and caused a delay in the permitting process and product installation.
Florida Window & Door further acknowledges that the delay in updating the building product approval was not the only issue as the feedback received from the company's customers indicated Florida Window & Door's lack of timely responses from office and field personnel. As a result, the following steps were implemented over the past several months.
In November of the past year, in an attempt to get more efficient and more accountability Florida Window & Door reconfigured their departments into the following areas: Customer Service, Installation, Permitting and Production, Lead Generation, and Sales. By doing this Florida Window & Door hopes to streamline the informational flow and begin the process of better communication and accountability with their consumer base.
Additionally, Florida Window & Door completed the first two phases of implementing Customer Management Software Program in December. This program will allow Florida Window & Door to track daily communications with customers and advise them electronically of the status of their order and when items including permits, Home Owner Association, and engineering approvals are received, the date of their product being available for installation, as well as any confirmation to appointment times and dates.
The Customer Management Program also notifies the Customer Service Representatives when to contact customers, schedule partial inspections and remind the Representative of what remains outstanding or in production in order to satisfy the customer and complete the job.
In addition to the computer system and reconfigured departments, Florida Window & Door hired an addition Customer Service Representative in the first week of January as well as an additional Service Technician to interface with customer service requests and perform field services in the timeliest manner without additional delay.
BBB will continue to monitor the complaint activity of Florida Window & Door and update the business review as needed.
