Product was sold as an alternative to Dodge Reports. Not even similar in product offerings.
I discussed the subscription at length with the CDC sales representative and clearly identified my priorities:
1) Public competitive bid projects
2) Access to plans
3) Access to GCs bidding project

After subscribing, I learned that the majority of CDC projects are Private. Those few that do have plans require installing proprietary software. I cannot install software on my company computer. And this requirement was not divulged prior to my subscribing. If the software is not installed, all plans and documents must be downloaded one page at a time.

Immediately after my first search I notified CDC that the product was not at all like Dodge Reports:

Subject: RE: ******* Customer Agreement

Hi *******,

So far I am not happy with what I am seeing. It is not nearly as comprehensive as Dodge. I have a training session at 4:00 today. I hope I learn of things I am missing.
A couple of concerns:
1) Very few projects with plans available - this was one of my priorities
2) When plans are available, must use proprietary trial viewer, or download sheet at a time
3) Very few public bid projects - this was one of my priorities
I hope I am not using the program correctly. **** see after the training.

The following day I completed the training session and learned nothing new, confirming my earlier concerns.

I notified the Regional Sales Manager that the product would not work for me and he asked me to call, presumably to keep me sold:

*******, call me sometime tomorrow am. Let's get on together. I would like to address some of your concerns.

Have a great night...

I responded that I had made my decision and asked that the cancel the subscription and issue a refund. He has not responded since then.

I need your confirmation by noon tomorrow. Thank you for your assistance.

Never received a response. I contacted my bank this morning, filed a complaint, and cancelled the recurring charge. BUYER BEWARE!

On August 1st 2013, BBB reviewed the advertising of Construction Data Company located in the company's website. The company was making claims of: "#1 Leader in Project Reporting", "CDCNews is the industry's leading regional provider of public and private commercial construction leads.", "CDCNews, the market leader in the commercial construction information industry,..." & "Our subscribers have benefited from exclusive access to timely, complete construction data for more than 32 years.". BBB had requested that they either substantiate their claims & provide BBB supporting documentation or to modify their advertising statements to reflect more accurate statements in an effort to promote truth in advertising. On October 22nd 2013, Construction Data informed BBB that they would not be changing any of their advertising, they stand behind their facts.
