Complaint
I purchased a portable building from Gemco an East Texas Street in Bossier City, La., March 11,2013. I paid a down payment of $500.00. The building was delivered and built on my property April 4, 2013. The balance was paid at this time. On July 1, 2013 I began to notice the buildings door being opened all by itself. My neighbor began to ask why the house door cont'd opening by itself.

Desired Settlement
A replacement door that fits evenly in the space provided for the door and not warped and not protruding from the building st the top.

Complaint
Gemco installed a shop on my property in February 2015. The contractor left gaps and did not seal the building nor did he make sure to install on a level location on the concrete slab. I paid almost $9000.00 for a building that leaks and floods on the inside. The material was not installed properly nor was it aligned, when complaining to manager ******** ******* he said that he would follow up. Over 60 days later I have not heard from him and items stored inside have been damaged. Contractor did not stand behind guarantee or product.

This building was installed on an existing slab not built by Gemco. The slab had problems and the customer was informed that they would need to do additional work to properly seal the building. The customer appeared to understand the situation and was initially satisfied with the install. The customer was given a quote to move the building to better seal it but did not accept it.Instead the customer wanted a partial refund to help cover the cost of sealing the building. We are willing to do a partial refund to properly seal the building.

Response is not entirely true, to this day, a representative still has yet to come out and inspect their contractor's work. The statement, "Customer was initially satisfied with the install" is far from the truth. We contacted GEMCO multiple times with no response that is why the BBB complaint was initiated. They are going on the assumption that the building was set on a preexisting slab with issues; however, the slab is 30x50 and the building is 20x30. His contractor DID NOT "pop a line" to make sure that it was the "most' level location to install. There was more than enough slab to do that.
A customer depends on the expertise of the contractor to conduct their job in a manner that guarantees the best quality of work regarding their product. Their contractor was confrontational when confronted about the misaligned material, bent frame, missing trim and how it needed correction before he left. With the material being misaligned, the door on the front will not open and close properly. Pitch of the roof is totally off and can be seen from the road, the building is sagging in the middle due to the contractor bending the frame at installation. Daylight could be seen thru the back roof initially in which we climbed up there and corrected that ourselves. The problem is not only the "seal".
We stopped the work on installation day and contacted GEMCO immediately, in which we were reassured by management that problems would be taken care of. Partial refund is not requested for ONLY sealing of the building. Partial refund is requested on repair of the entire building in which I am willing to get a quote on repair or they can come and pick up their product and give entire refund.


Final Business Response
Gemco would like to get a list of repairs the customer says are needed. We are only aware that the building needed further sealing. Gemco is willing to pay any reasonable costs of sealing the building. We are also willing to repair or pay reasonable costs of repair of any problems with the building that are not related to sealing. Just let us know what the problems are.

Cost to repair building $2300.00. This was quoted by a 3rd party contractor since Gemco never sent anyone to inspect damage even after BBB complaint. This includes missing trim, labor to align and rebuild building, so that the door closes properly and relieve stress from walls of the misalignment.

We have selected a reputable contractor and will be using him for repairs.
