While refinishing bathtub, workers took door off hinges and leaned it against the bed causing damage to bed. Owner insists workers didn't do.
Proficient Refinishing completed a job refinishing the bath tub in my master bedroom on Tuesday November 10, 2015. Upon getting home from work, I walked into my bedroom to find the bathroom door had been removed and strategically placed between my furniture leaning against the bed. I understand that the door could have been removed due to the small amount of space in that bathroom, but what i don't understand is why it wasn't replaced by them once they were finished. Later that evening, I walked into the kitchen and noticed the door unlocked with the latch across it. I never use the door in the kitchen for any reason because the balcony is right at the top of the stairs and more convenient. I verbally reported this information to the office and spoke with the leasing agents about the incident. In return, I was given the company's name and number by the office agents. When I called, I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. The gentleman stated that he was the manager. In return, I asked for his name and was told when I call a business I should identify myself before he does. As I attempted to continue to hold a conversation with him, he repeatedly tried to over talk me, so I attempted to cease the conversation by letting him know that the next time we spoke would be in person at his business. I also informed individual that I would know his name and information within minutes of us hanging up the phone. He continued to be rude and disrespectful so I simply wished him a good day and hung up the phone. After carefully researching the company, Proficient Refinishing, my results revealed that the individual whom I had been on the phone with was in fact the owner. He now goes by the name (owner). On November 17, 2015, I got off work a little early so I could finally make it over to the company to speak with owner in person. I arrived at Proficient Finishing at **** ********* Rd., Shreveport, La around about X:XX- X:XX. The doors were locked. According to their website, www.prtubs.com, their hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. While still on the lot, I took pics as proof that I was there and also called the business phone number located on the sign outdoors and received an answering machine/ voicemail recording. As soon as I exit the parking lot, I received a call from owner's cell phone. After identifying myself as a resident at the ********* at ********* apartments and explained the situation, owner responded by telling me that I wasn't "WISE" (smart) because if I was I would have gone through the proper channels since I live in an apartment community. He goes on to say that he has been in this business a long time and his guys have never taken a door off. When I asked who else could have taken it off, he stated that I needed to speak with the office about that. I went on to say that I didn't the problem was not the fact the door was taken off, I just wanted to know why they didn't put it back up once the work was completed. His response was that's what the maintenance men at the complex were for. Owner continued to deny that my kitchen door was left unlocked and my bed was damaged by the individuals who completed the work in my apartment. He insisted that the door was left unlocked by someone from the office who let them in and the maintenance crew. He also mentioned that I should not stop by a business without informing someone that I would be coming by. I reminded him of our conversation we had last week prior to this one and that even though his business is a public place, he in fact was aware that I would be making an appearance. He replied by saying that he remembered exactly who I was then becomes even more xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Owner expressed to me that he didn't owe me an explanation for anything because I don't pay him. When reminded that he runs a business and lacks professionalism, and customer service skills and can be put out of business.
Proficient refinishers should fund the repair or replace the bed that it's workers scratched up.
We at Proficient Refinishing informed ******** ***** after she contacted us regarding her complaint that our policy as well as The ********* at ********* is to handle all complaints through management or home office. Any damage done to any item in ********'s apartment should be reported to management. We are not authorized to resolve any issues with any resident at The ********* at ********* without the approval of management. We spoke with management concerning ********'s complaint, and there was no evidence that we nor the staff damaged her property. I was told by management if she contacts us regarding this matter to file a restraining order. Unfortunately, any doors left unlocked is not the fault of Proficient Refinishing, because we gained entrance by the staff. This matter could have been expeditiously resolved if ******** ***** would have followed the necessary protocol. Management at The ********* at ********* has never contacted us for a resolution in regards to this matter, which tells us that her complaint may possibly be fraudulent. We spoke with ******** and encouraged her to reach out to management concerning this matter. ******** refused our suggestion and became xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxx. We wasn't given any before or after pictures concerning damaged property, only the dissatisfaction of her word. ******** has no authority to initiate a resolution without management approval.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As stated before in the original complaint, the office personnel gave me the name of the company who had done the work and suggested that I speak to the owner because they were the ones who did the work and damaged my furniture. It is clear that I did go through this so called proper procedure that is being spoken of by tge owner of Proficient. This is the only way I would have known who was doing the work. Office personnel provided the key to access my apartment but was not with the workers to let them in. Proficient's workers let themselves in. The damage was reported to management at the xxxx at xxxxxxxxxxxx the next day because they were closed when I arrived from work. My complaint was made verbally and via email. Pictures were also taken and submitted to office personnel because they were not able to receive them via email. I also went to show Proficient's owner the photos before our last conversation and he was not available and the doors of the business was locked during business hours.I never refused his suggestion but I did inform him that office personnel directed me to speak to him personally. The owner has a very nasty attitude and is failing to resolve this issue. The company is no longer contracted with the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
