    Complaint Type:
    Service or Repair Issues
    Status:
    Resolved
On October 01, 2021, I came into National Motorworks for a repair of an 02 ********************* of a new aftermarket catalytic converter after it was stolen from my vehicle. Services were rendered to ******* invoice totaled $1,674.15. Upon my annual vehicle registration renewal, I was asked to undergo a smog check. I took my vehicle to Smog Express for this smog requirement, which the vehicle did not pass & was marked as TAMPERED. The smog technician stated that the catalytic converter that was installed into my vehicle was not an acceptable part for my car & referred me to my local referee station to further determine if the part was the correct one for my vehicle if so they would provide me with a label. I attempted to make an appointment with the referee scheduling center for an inspection however when I provided my ********** number on my invoice it was ultimately determined that the catalytic converter that was installed into my car was unacceptable nor ********** Law Compliant. The representative from this scheduling center stated that I should return to the auto shop to have this fixed & that it should be at no cost to me since this was negligence on behalf of the shop. I returned to National Motorworks on December 22, 2022, to explain this to the owner of the shop (***************************), and after his own research, it was confirmed that the incorrect parts were installed into my car. I was originally offered three options for resolution to this matter. The first option, he would attempt to find a used genuine ***** catalytic converter in good condition at a low cost. The second option, I could purchase a new genuine ***** part at retail price from the agency which are currently on back-order. And last, he offered a partial refund for parts & labor from my original invoice. In an attempt to have my vehicle repaired once again, I chose the first option. However, it was discussed that in the event that a used part was not available a partial refund would be issued.
