Alan Thomarat to speak at 2013 Torch Awards

In celebration of exemplary leadership in ethical business practices and service excellence by Saskatchewan business and professional organizations, the BBB serving Saskatchewan will host the 9th annual Torch Awards event the evening of Thursday, March 21th, 2013 at Queensbury Convention Centre in Regina

The BBB is excited to announce that Mr. Alan Thomarat, President and CEO of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association - Saskatchewan will be the guest speaker at the event.  In addition to his role as President & CEO of the Provincial Association, Alan also leads the seven Regional Councils in Saskatchewan and acts as President & CEO of the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association. He also serves as Chair of the Canadian Home Builders' Association Executive Officer’s Council as well as a Director on the National Association Board.  He previously served as the Board Chair of the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science & Technology, President of the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership as well as holding Director positions on numerous Boards including the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, Skills Canada Saskatchewan, and Co - Chair of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce's HR Committee and Co-Chair of the Construction Sector Council. 

Mr. Thomarat has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to excellence and professionalism in the residential construction industry, advocating for appropriate consumer protection measures as well as economic, social and public policy which seeks to ensure a sustainable and healthy environment for the industry and quality housing for all residents of Saskatchewan.  Mr. Thomarat will comment on the impact our robust economy is having on the home building and home renovation industries including labour market pressures, and on the importance and need for enhanced regulation within the general trade contracting sector to address the prevalence and adverse impact of less than ethical operators and underground economy practitioners.
