Complaint The broker did not meet the requirements we needed to insure our vehicle for and when we had already made a down payment of $225.00 I had called back the next day to get full coverage (since out vehicle is owned and making payments through the bank) or possibly look at canceling since it had been less the 24 hours. Their customer service lady which I did not catch her name said if I were to get full coverage with them it would be around $500 or more a month for 6 months. I told her that was not an option and I would like to go ahead and cancel the insurance. She put me through to **** (the broker) and he insisted that he call me back in about an hour after he looks into new policies and basically he was too busy to speak to me. I never received a call back from ****. I called back two times within an hour and a half trying to get ahold of someone to cancel, no answer. I left a message saying I wanted to cancel, no call back. I finally then called again and got ****** and asked if I can cancel, he sent me a cancellation form that I had to hand fill out and send back to them via fax. The fax number did not work. I called back again and got someone else and they said that that was the only fax number and they weren?t sure why it was not working right now but to go ahead and take a picture of the signed document and send it via e-mail. Another hour goes by and I had not heard from them so I called again. Surprisingly I got ****** again and that is when he told me he was a part of the cancellation department and now that he received the document he could go ahead and start the cancellation process. He said he would know if we would receive a refund within the next 48 hours and that it would be by check if we had a refund. That was the last that I have heard from them. Issues on going in this case is that in their contract it does not state the exact amount we paid down payment for this policy which once again was $225. All that the contract shows of a down payment is $95 also does not show that there was any type of broker?s fee. Also does not show exactly when our payments would have been due including the amount we would have owed them every month.
Another issue, this whole situation just did not sit right with my husband and I. So I did some investigating and called Ca Department of Insurance just to see if Alliance United Insurance Company was a real company. They verified that they were. So then I asked them to look up BMP Insurance services license number. I was told that their license was expired and that being said the man who helped me figure that out told me to call Alliance United and figure things out with them and to definitely submit a complaint to Ca Department of Insurance. After I had gotten off the phone with him I called Alliance United customer service line. They did not know much about BMP and apparently did not know their license was expired. I asked why BMP would even be able to charge me let alone get me insurance without a license and with my truck being under a bank loan it would need full coverage. How could that get approved? She simply did not know much about the matter and said that she would let her management know about the expired license BMP has. I asked if there was someone I could talk to in that department and she said no but I could submit a complaint through them. Then I proceeded to ask why I didn?t get a receipt for my credit transactions for my $225 down payment but I have proof of a $95 down payment. And she said that the $95 was for Alliance United and that is nonrefundable. I then asked where did the other $130 go that is not shown anywhere on this contract. She said that that must have been the broker fee along with other charges they may have. I told her none of this makes sense to me and the phone call basically ended there. None of these things both of these companies are saying make any sense. I keep getting the short end of things, no calls back, no straight answers, and just lies. Desired Settlement There was much more to the real issue but I believe you get the just of it.I would like this matter resolved by getting a full refund and that the CA licensing department do a full investigation on BMP and Alliance United. Seeing as how this is a legal matter I am in the process of contacting CA licensing department. But I wanted the BBB to get involved so no other person gets taken advantage of like my husband and I did.
Complaint ************* has signed me for auto insurance policy without my written consent. I have not received any contract from them. I have asked them show me the contract for the policy but to no avail. Moreover they have withdrawn $256 from my account. I am already insured with ********* from june onwards and do not need a second insurance.
Desired Settlement i would like my policy terminated and the amount of $256 withdrawn refunded.I would also like a thorough investigation of the broker **************** for insurance malpractices.
Business Response I insured ******** on a non-owners policy on 6/5/13 with alliance united. I did a voice conformation of converge and authorization to charge his credit card. I bound application and sent over the application through echosign. On 9/19/13 I received a call from ******* father Utom explaining that this is a fraudulent situation and they never took a policy out. Then he said he put his son on his ********* policy, and then wanted to cancel. I asked him to send a cancelation request over so we can get that processed.
