Complaint: I hired Moorco Movers to move me to my new condo. I had already moved most the kitchen ware, sheets, towels, and on the day of the move moved most of my clothing myself. I had gotten an estimate from another mover for $310. I did not get an estimate from this mover since a friend highly recommended him. Even though he charged $95 /hour while the other moves averaged between $75 - $88/ hour, after speaking to the owner on the phone, I decided to go with him even though I did not get an estimate.On the morning of the move, the owner, ******, and a helper, arrived a little late, saying that the traffic was bad. We did a walk through, and I showed them everything that was to be moved. The one challenge was a Proform Treadmill that was in one of the upstairs bedrooms. My son and brother-in-law had helped me move it previously so I knew that even though it would be a tight fit, it would come down the stairs once it was taken apart. ****** indicated that it would be no problem. Since he is a professional, I fully expected him to know how to move this large piece of exercise equipment. I was surprised that they did not put down any floor protectors nor did they protect the wall along the stairs during the move but got busy carrying things to my car, I didnt say anything to him about that.While ****** and his helper were very courteous and friendly, they were extremely slow. At first they tried to move the treadmill through the doorway of the room and down the stairs without taking it apart. It caused a lot of damage to the door, the door frame and the wall as they tried to move it. It also caused scratches on the treadmill. They then carried it back to the room, where ****** spent about 45 minutes taking it apart. This meant there was only one worker moving the stuff during that time. They eventually got it down the stairs and into their truck. After the truck was packed and ready to go, ****** said he would meet me at my new place, which was 6 miles away. I mentioned the damage he had caused to the door, door frame and wall. He acted surprised, like he didn't even know about it. We went upstairs and I showed the damage to him. He said that he should have taken the treadmill apart from the beginning. I told him that my son and brother-in-law had moved it before and had not caused any damage. He said he was sorry and I told him that while I knew he was sorry, I was the only who was going to take the hit from the owner. ****** and his helper then sat in front of my house in the truck for about 20 minutes. I was waiting for them to leave and finally went up to ask when they were going since I was paying him by the hour. They were eating a snack and shortly after I spoke with them, they then drove away. I am totally shocked at how long it took this company to move me, and I expected him to deduct for the extra time it took for him to try to move the treadmill before taking it apart and also for the damage he caused. However, when he presented the bill of $679 (I still can't believe this!!!) he asked me what I wanted to do about the damage. I told him that I have no idea what the owners will take off my deposit and made sure he made a note of the damage in the contract. He indicated on the contract the damage he had caused but made no attempt to reimburse me.I have moved many time over the past few years -- and while I was willing to pay more per hour for this company, I had no idea they would take 6 hours, especially since I had already moved a bunch of stuff myself during the past week. In addition, Ive never experienced movers who have damaged any property.

Desired Settlement: Reimburse me $95 for the extra time spent trying to get the treadmill out of the room and down the stairs .Reimburse me for the time the workers sat in their truck after it was packed.Reimburse me $500 for the amount of my deposit the owners will deduct for the damage this moving company caused to the door, door frame and wall.Total settlement: $595

Ms. ******** ******** initially came to us via a long time client; we were truly excited and arrived with very good intentions of getting us safely moved from her present home to the new chosen home. Everything went very well we thought. When the chore of moving the Treadmill came, we tried moving without disassembling, and then realized it was impossible, this was to save time, and then I told Ms. ******** that we decided to leave it there. She said that it had to be moved down, so okay to take time

to disassemble.

We are saddened about small damages to the wall, paint was already paint peeling on door. At the time I agreed to pay whatever the difference of her deposit refund. We did our very best to satisfy Ms ********, our time spend after loading was only five minutes to just eat a small snack! Ms. ******** ******** should have already received $200.00 refund which we feel should cover the differences.

We have been movers since 1979, never have we ever received such dissatisfactions. Sorry that she Felt we did not care, it's not true ..

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *******, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I would still like my rating to reflect that, other than the monetary complaint, I still rate this company as unsatisfactory in their lack of professionalism.  They did not protect the floor and carpet during the move  and it took them almost twice the time that other companies had estimated the move would take.
