Complaint: I have an auto loan with Mission Fed and had a two and half month gap in auto insurance from March-mid May due to financial issues. Mission Federal Credit Union, per their policy, was forced to choose and apply their own auto insurance for the gap, but I was NEVER notified ahead of time or at ALL. I was never called, emailed, or was mailed any information to warn me or update me that I was no covered with their insurance. I came in to make my payment as usual in June and was told my monthly payment due was over $500 of my normal monthly payment of $420. I was shocked to say the least, but the teller informed me that it was in the contract that I signed. I am complaining that I was for one never notified during the times I came in physically to make my payments at the branch offices during March-May, via a phone call, email, or mail. And also the auto insurance policy Mission Federal Credit Union decided to choose had a monthly payment was more than the actual car payment. I spoke to a Mission Federal rep and was told I have no option but to pay it. Now I am in the process of paying a total premium of $1,000 for the gap in auto insurance over the time of 12 months bringing my monthly payment over $500. I am also in the process of finding a way to take my auto loan, savings and checking account to another financial institution after receiving such services. I will be spreading the word to family, friends, and social media to make sure others will never have to endure such service. I have been a loyal customer and not once ever missed a payment and feel very disappointed.
Desired Settlement: I can only hope that Mission Federal Credit Union can work with me to bring the $1,000 added to my auto loan down as much as possible or even waived.
