Complaint: ******, the owner of this company, has agreeded that the installation of the holiday lights in my front yard were unprofessionally installed. He promised on five different days to come back and reinstall the lights. Half of them now are unlit. He has not returned to correct the ligths as he has promised. I can see why he required he be paid in full on the first day of installation.
Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of 1/2 my payment plus for him to fix the lights.
Business Response: ****** ******* owner of Rockin Holidays Lighting:
In response to a complaint file against my business by ***** ***** – ***-***-****, *** ****** ******,Clear Mini on - 6 Trees – 3 Palm Trees Yard trees/no trunks – looped on branches at the cost of $375 - Installed on Saturday, November 24th, 2012.
When my employees went to do the installment, Ms. ***** explained how she wanted the lights on her trees looped. Being the professionals that we are we have done this many times. Our team completed the installment per our customers request, she had left for the day without approval. Workers then moved on to our next scheduled job.
We received a call late the next day from Ms. *****, she found the looped lighting installed was too wide, and she wanted loops small with more lights. She expected me to do the repair that same night, due to darkness was not possible. I responded, this is not a problem. I went to see the work the next day, I spoke with Ms. *****, explained my schedule and I will be there to restring the lights in a day or two. She also stated she was very happy with the lights on her palm trees.
She called upset on the second day and told me to take all her lights down. I apologized for the delay and her being unhappy, I had no problem taking all the lights down and refunding her full cost of $375.00.
Ms. ***** called again a few days later, explaining after contacting another company, they were unable to accommodate her installation.
She then wanted Rockin Holidays Lighting to complete the job. Ms. ***** at this time was on my schedule for removal.
At the busiest time of my holiday business I rescheduled her installment, promising I will be there and happy to accommodate her.
Ms. *****'s responded, what if you don't show up? I replied in good faith, I will refund half your cost.
Do to the extremely hectic time of the year with my installation schedule, it was to dark for me to do the repair.
I showed up the following day with a sincere apology and refunded with cashiers check in the amount of $187.50 as I promised.
During our next conversation, Ms ***** explained to me, her sister passed away that day, and that is was a good thing I showed up because she was going to make a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I gave her my condolences, and I proceeded to restring and add more lights to satisfy my customer. At completion I asked Ms. ***** to come see if my work was satisfactory to her.
She inspected my work, at first view she smiled, and expressed extreme joy and happiness. She expressed, this is exactly what I wanted, and she would like Rockin Holidays Lighting to decorate her home in 2013. Also, at this time I explained to my customer, her outside outlets were 25 years old with no covers and need to be replaced due to fire hazard.
After all the above confusion and trying my best as a business owner make my customer happy, I received an email from the BBB informing me of this complaint filed against my company. I noticed the date Ms. ***** file this complaint was the same day her sister passed way. I am extremely understanding.
About a week after the above happenings, Ms. ***** contacted me about a section of her tree were not working. Wanting to prove my dedication to making my customers happy I was there the same day to make the repair.
She was happy with my quick response and told me that she would remove the complaint she made with the Better Business Bureau.
At this time I noticed she had an electrician replace all her outside outlets per my advise and my lights were not plugged in.
Rockin Holidays Lighting excels at this very happy time of the year. Our dedication to lighting up Christmas for many customers is extremely rewarding. We have many returning customers and we look forward to lighting up Ms. *****'s holidays next year also.
