Complaint: I was a renter in South Sacramento and my landlord had a contract with CPP Alarm and Video for a security alarm. When the contract was getting ready to expire my landlord asked if I wanted to renew the contract. At this point I contacted CPP and while in discussion over the contract, the salesman told me I would need to sign a 3 year contract. I indicated that I would not be living there for that long, he told me not to worry that it was completely transferable and it would be transferred to the house owner when I moved, so I signed the contract.Less than a year later I had to relocate out of the area for work and contacted CPP by email to notify them that I had moved and was transferring the contract to my landlord including his contact info. I got no response, but continued to get bills. I kept contacting CPP and told various reasons why it had not been transferred and every time I called there were no notes about my last call, where promises for resolution had been made. Eventually my landlord decided not to renew the contract and I was told I was responsible for the remaining 27 months. I explained that I had signed the contract under false promise and as a business owner she could override this contract. She declined, but offered to cut the amount in half. At this point I requested a copy of of the contract and found out it was unsigned by anyone from CPP. When I called to inquire, the owner became very upset and hung up on me.
Desired Settlement: I would like my contract to be voided and have no money owed on it back to August, 2015.
This alleges statements made at the time of the transaction by a sales representative that is no longer with our company. Since we are unable to speak to this situation of "He said, She said", we feel it is in the best interest of all concerned to respect the claimant and void the contract with no money owed.
