Additional Complaint Information

BBB believes that this business' complaints contain a pattern of similar allegations. Complainants generally allege that the company’s technical support services either do not solve their computers’ problem or do not improve their computers’ performance. Some complainants report being informed by other service providers that their computers did not actually have any problems or that their problems were very simple to fix. Some complainants have also reported receiving unsolicited pop-up notices on their computer screens warning them that their computers were infected with viruses and telling them to contact the company. 

BBB contacted the business on March 30, 2016 and April 6, 2016. We requested that the company address these allegations and provide to us the steps, if any, they are taking to eliminate the cause of these allegations. The company responded on April 8, 2016 explaining the process they go through with each customer. They also explained that they cannot fix hardware issues, that they cannot help when a customer adds non-compatible peripheral devices or upgrades to non-compatible software, and do not use pop-up advertisements. BBB responded on April 14, 2016. We explained that we do not feel they addressed the pattern of allegations sufficiently and asked them to provide specific responses each allegation. We also asked them to explain how they advertise without the use of pop-ups and to provide us with copies of the advertisements they use.

On May 4, 2016 the company responded. In their response, the company explains they believe the customers complaining that their services did not solve their computer problems are experiencing hardware problems or problems with old software which affect their computer's performance. The company also states that the number of complaints we have received compared to the more than 20,000 calls they receive a year proves that the customers' continuing problems with their computers are not because of a lack in their services. They also state that they have a refund and cancellation policy posted on their website. Regarding the complainants who reported that they later learned their computers did not have any problems or that the problems they did have were easy to solve, the company asks why the complainants would contact them if their computers did not have a problem or had a problem they could resolve themselves. Regarding complainants' allegations that they received unsolicited pop-up notices, the company states that they do not use pop-up advertising and that they instead pay for advertising with search engines.
