Options to fix leaking seals for a log splitter are limited to (1) buying a new one for $2,000 -or more- for a 35 ton splitter, (2) buyubg a new cylinder with all 4 factory installed seals ($700 + shipping) and replace it yourself, hoping it will work again as designed (3) doing all the work yourself -very few ******* videos to "help" -remove cylinder, purge hydraulics, find the correct seals online ($150 and only one website for those seals! no other choice) and reinstall all 4 seals, then the cylinder and align it correctly, etc. assuming you already know what you will face and have to resolve, (4) going to Jones Auto Parts in *********** drove 25 miles to bring my log splitter to Jones Auto Parts, was extremely well received; they kept in constant communication with me, advised me on the charges to be incurred for a detailed examination of the splitter's cylinder before proceeding to the real work of installing new seals, etc.. Total cost was around $350 (seals were priced at less than $30 for all 4!). And then, totally unexpected in today's world, Jones Auto Parts called me about 10 days after picking up my log splitter to find out if everything was OK, if my splitter was functioning right, etc. That simple phone call - customer service at its very best - brought memories of a time long gone with a great feeling of being "valued" as a customer !
