Complaint: We bought brand new Nissan leaf Car from Colonial and sels person told us that this Car we can charge in our house with 220 Volt in 8 hours and with 110 it will take 12 hours to charge from 0 to 100% and we can charge from there charging station for free any time we would like to. even he tols us if we go to visit any friend we can just plug in and in very short time our car will becharged, everything was lie. They sold the car to us based on all this lies and now they do not even want to litsen to us, we went there to talk to some one about our issue and they told us that we have to wait 30 minutes but after more then 3 hours ** *** show up and told us we bought the car and now he can't help us. Nobody even want to talk to us now, they said it is eazy " why don't you buy 220 volt Car Charger and install in your house so you can charge your car in 8 houres.1 We can't install 220 charger in our apartment because apartment administration do not allow us to do so.2 We don't have money to buy $1000 charger.We thought colonial was honest car dealership but we have been cheated by them.I hope BBB will help us to solve our problem.
Desired Settlement: We need refund or descount to buy 220 Car charger, or Colonian can give us 220 Volt car charger, because with our 110 car charger we can charge our car in 21 hours so we can drive one day and we have to keep car charging other day.We are very despointed and unhappy.

I am replying to your letter dated 10/13/2012 involving a Colonial Auto Center customer named ***** ** ******* (Case no. *******) involving a Nissan Leaf purchased in September 2012. The Leaf is a fully electric vehicle.
Just prior to receiving your letter with the attached complaint, the customer had come to Colonial to talk again to their salesperson regarding the number of hours it took to charge the battery of their Leaf vehicle. I was introduced to the customer on that visit and they explained to me that they had been told that the battery could be completely recharged in 12 hours using a standard 110 volt plug.
The Nissan literature and the Nissan Delivery Disclosure Form signed by the customer did disclose the charging times for the various voltage alternatives which states approximately 21 to 24 hours at 110 volts. Our sales person says that he did not promise or represent to the customer that it could be fully charged in 12 hours.
Regardless of who is correct, this was a clear misunderstanding between the customer and the sales person. After doing a complete review of the transaction and paper work and listening to both sides, I met again with the customer and proposed that Colonial Auto Center pay $****** toward the cost of installing a 220 volt charging system at their home (which can charge the car in approximately 8 hours). This should pay for approximately 50% of the cost of the installation. It seemed to me that there was some contribution by both sides to this misunderstanding and that we would share in the cost.
This solution was acceptable to the customer and we provided them with a check for $****** and they seemed very satisfied.
