The 2010 FIFA World Cup a month away, and scammers are trying their best to take advantage of consumers.
In February, FIFA released a press release warning consumers of lottery prize scams associated with their name. The scams then persuade recipients to submit personal information or forward money to receive the prize. Any foreign lottery prize is a scam, and consumers should turn these types of documents into their local Post Office as fraudulent mail. There is no World Cup 2010 Lottery.
Since that scam didn’t work…
It appears that scammers are now using the guise of a private beach party that will give you the best time of your life. For the low price of $1,100 you will be flown on a private plane to a beach with lobster, champagne, and even celebrities. However, you must bring a copy of your ticket and payment in order to board this private plane.
Stick with the BBB’s advice. If is sounds too good to be true, it normally is.
