I brought my 2017 Jeep Renegade in on Monday, November 21st stating that the sound system in my vehicle did not sound right. The service writer said they would perform diagnostic testing before doing any work and call me with their findings. They called me and said that my right passenger door speaker needed replaced along with a connector piece- so I agreed and said to go ahead with the repair. (They told me the cost of this repair would be $554.90, even though I was given a written estimate on September 7th of $283.18.) When I got my vehicle back after the repair, I was very disappointed because the sound quality sounded exactly the same as before the repair. I called and spoke with Mike (service writer) and he said to bring my Jeep back in and they would take a look at it again. I am then told by the service writer that the sound issue is ‘obvious’- the driver door speaker is dead and the passenger door speaker is compensating for that, causing the sound quality issue. I am very upset by this information, because the sound quality is exactly the same as before the $550 repair. I was not told at the time of that repair that the driver side door speaker was dead. If the sound quality issue was ‘obvious’ and being caused by overcompensating for the dead speaker on the driver side, then why was I charged to replace the passenger door speaker and drove away with the same sound issue? I am very upset with the way this was handled and feel that I am being taken advantage of. I expected the issue that I presented to be fixed when I brought in my vehicle the first time and paid $550. Now I am being told that I need to pay to have another speaker replaced after being overcharged for the first repair that did not even fix the initial issue. I am now out $550 and my vehicle is in the same state as it was before the ‘repair.’ At this point, I would like a full refund and will get this issue addressed elsewhere.
