Complaint: I had requested an estimate for a sewer line. The plumber came to the prospective job site and charged a service charge of $250 for an estimate for the work. The service charge had been paid in full, but they have yet to provide an estimate. Numerous attempts by phone and email have been made, but response. Nearly a month has past with no response.

Desired Settlement: Refund payment for service charge, as they did not fully complete their end of the agreement to provide an estimate.

To Whom it May Concern:

Kwiatkowski Plumbing was contacted by *** ********* on Septembers, 2013 to verify if any damage occurred to the lateral sewer line due to a sink hole. The City of Pittsburgh suspected a problem in the line, and recommended that the client have a plumber confirm the location of the issue. Kwiatkowski Plumbing informed the client that we charge a fee of $249.00, for the use of our camera services and that it is only to possibly verify & locate the scope of damages (if any) to the lateral sewer line with no guarantees of the results. Kwiatkowski Plumbing attempted to run a camera from the basement house trap out to the street on September 10, 2013. A blockage was located and communicated to the client approximately at 10 ft, or outside the home’s front steps.

It was determined that the blockage would require digging from these front steps and most likely out into the street. It was discussed at the time of the service call that the project would be upwards of $40K, but Kwiatkowski Plumbing would verify and confirm with the client a specific amount. The confirmed amount of $45K-$55K was not communicated to the client. Unfortunately, Kwiatkowski Plumbing determined that the project was outside of the scope of services that could be handled at the time, due to manpower needed to complete this large job.

Kwiatkowski Plumbing apologizes for any miscommunication on our part. The pre-approved charges to the client were for the use of the camera to verify for any issues, not for providing an estimate.

Our clients are not just a job, but also a working relationship. Therefore, by sending our professionally trained plumber to the home at the clients convenience with a fully loaded truck to ensure you the client receive immediate service is what we strive to achieve. Reviewing the job and guaranteeing you the upĀ­front pricing before any work has begun is our assurance to the client that we make every effort to be the best at client care and services. Therefore, we are reimbursing a partial refund to ***** **** of $ 100,00 / Check# *****, We hope that this resolves any question that customer service and concern comes first with our company.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
