Complaint: The service that I received from this company from day 1 has been a nightmare. I was added to a wedding party late and they assured us this is not a problem. We received notification that my dress arrived with the rest of the wedding party's dresses. They were mistaken. This was not found until my sister drove over an hour to pick it up for me. I was HARRASSED on the phone that I needed to get my alterations done immediately which is hard to do when your dress isnt in! When I ordered my dress they insisted that I needed a size 2 times larger than I normally wear which conveniently had a plus size fee for it. I couldnt risk the dress being too small so I finally conceded. When the dress finally arrived (3 weeks after I was told it was in), they informed me that they could not get me into alterations for 2 weeks which is funny since I was yelled at on the phone that they needed done 3 weeks ago now they want me to wait 2 more weeks. I spoke to the alterations manager and she fit me in for a fitting that weekend. I drove out there and the dress was incredibly too large as I expected. They pinned it and informed me that it would take 2 weeks for the alterations to be completed. I went to pick it up and the dress could not zip by 3 inches! They told me I would have to come out again to pick it up because they just could not correct it that same day.I told them that was impossible because I had prior engagements already scheduled for that day. So they told me that I would have to come in on a weekday. I told them I have a job during the day and I live over an hour away! After some back and forth they finally agreed to make the corrections that day. The owner of the store could care less of their mistakes and never apologized once. The service from the employees and the attitude of the owner are pathetic. Its a shame the only thing that the owner would say is "I don't know anything about this" and would talk over me when I tried to explain. Such poor service!

Desired Settlement: This company is not an A+ company. Their score needs changed!

Business Response:

Fortunately we get very few complaints compared to the amount of business we do and I (the owner) can personally respond to every complaint.

 

Since you ordered your dress after the others in the party, as you state, your dress did arrive after the other dresses. I can't tell how you came to believe your dress had arrived at the time the others arrived.  We call the bride when dresses are in. Either we neglected to tell the bride your dress wasn't in or we did but she forgot. Either way there seems to have been some miscommunication.

 

I am not sure why you mention this because your sister drove an hour to the store to get HER dress, actually, since it had arrived, not yours.

 

When you called in your measurements for the dress initially, we may have strongly suggested a size, but certainly we don't harass anyone into a size. We have been in business for over 21 years and we know the problems that arise when ordering a dress that is too small. When you select a size we suggest, we basically guarantee that you will not pay more for alterations than our alterations package price so long as your measurements do not change.

 

If you select a size that we do not suggest, you are responsible for any extra alterations charge needed to get the gown to fit even if your measurements did not change.

 

Since you are a size 20 we charged the exact Plus Size fee we get charged by the designer. It is standard practice for our industry to charge an extra fee for bigger sizes. We actually make no money on such fees, by the way, since we charge exactly what the designer charges, but that is not true in most stores.

 

Your dress was too small at your second fitting either because your measurements changed, our seamstress didn't sew it properly, or a combination of both. Either way, we continued to work on it until it fit to your satisfaction and our standards. Since we allowed you to purchase the alterations package even after starting alterations, this was at no extra charge.  

 

My wife, after hearing about your difficulty in picking up the gown at a later date due to you work situation, etc. had the dress worked on and finished while you waited instead of having you come back to the store again which resulted in about an hour wait.

 

There is nothing particularly unusual here; alterations are an art and not a science and time is involved. We have no problem doing as many fittings as necessary. Most customers only need one fitting, some two, some three and some even more.

 

I can assure you my wife and I care about our business. We have not become one of the country's largest bridal salons by "talking over" customers or taking them for granted. She remembers you and your mother and cannot recall doing or saying anything that could be considered rude.

The bottom line is that we compensated you, though we were in no way obligated to, for the inconvenience of having to stay another hour and the dress was done to your satisfaction.

 

I am sorry about anything that you perceived as unjust.
