Better Business Bureau (BBB) is hosting Secure Your ID Day on Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mueblería del Sol located at 8210 W. Indian School Road in Phoenix.
Consumers and businesses can bring up to five (5) boxes/bags of paper documents to be shredded on site by national partner Cintas. In addition to free shredding, attendees will receive valuable identity theft information from BBB and LifeLock.
“ATMs, gas stations, and online shopping websites are just a few of the places where identity theft can occur,” said Erin Harshfield, BBB Foundation Director. “However, stolen identity cases are also a result of medical and employment related fraud, which is why consumers should always monitor their information.”
To help consumers monitor their personal information on and offline, LifeLock has donated three LifeLock Command Center packages, which BBB will be giving away at the event. The LifeLock Command Center offers expanded monitoring across a comprehensive network of databases - not just credit reports, nationwide monitoring for payday loans, and guidance to correct accidental disclosure of personal information on file-sharing sites - among other benefits.
