Additional Notes

Complaint: I was approved for an LGI Home, but was mislead with dishonesty. My LGI consultant took a picture of me next to a sold sign on the first day, and even announced that my lot had been taken off the market. How can a house be taken off the market and sold with a $1000 deposit? The whole sales process was presumptuous to say the least. The home buying experience was done backwards. Rather than say "approved", the consultant should've said "preapproved". Approved means the keys are in my hand, but not literally, because the house wasn't built yet. Home buying should be a transparent, rewarding process, not a mirage of it. Before my credit report was checked, I disclosed that my income wasn't sufficient, but the VP of Lending, John, said he would do everything to get me into my home. But, the following week, they sold my house to someone else. I was completely upfront about my financial status. I said I was starting a second job, because my income wasn't sufficient. They set me up for failure when they had me meet with the mortgage consultant; who said my income wasn't sufficient -- they decided to cancel our agreement. If approved doesn't mean approved, shouldn't someone say so? I've purchased homes in the past, and approved means approved, and is final. The house was scheduled to be completed on 14 October 2016. The staff assured me that I had plenty of time to start my second job; thereby increase my income.

Desired Settlement: I'd like LGI Homes to acknowledge that they were misleading, and not forthcoming. I'd like them to follow through with the promises made. Although, I'm not optimistic about this happening. If there's no desired outcome, I am very resourceful, and I will warn others to not make the same mistake. I will start blogs, warn social media followers, publish articles online, etc.
