Additional Notes

Complaint: We have a patient lift for my husband, who is totally disabled, provided by this company through our former insurance company. In March 2012, I started calling about issues with the life - (1) a broken screw in an extremely vital part of the lift which allows the lift to be used (I improvised with an item I had at home to get me through until they repaired the lift); and (2) the hydraulic system on this lift was going bad. They sent someone out a number of times, each time stating they would have to order the hydraulic part and would then come back to install it. They never did. I made call after call, and either had them come out and say they were ordering the part and would get back to me, or they would say they would have someone call me back, and no one would ever call back. This part has become worse. I just found out on December 31 that as of July this piece of equipment became owned by us as the insurance company had paid it out to purchase price. No one had ever advised us of this. I called again about the hydraulic problem, they sent someone out, he said he would have to order the part and that it would cost me in excess of $200 for the part, plus labor to have this replaced. I told him this was not right, since I had been calling about this problem since March of last year - long before the equipment became our property, and that they should be responsible for replacing the part. He said he would have to check at the office and someone would call me back the following day. That was last Thursday, the 3rd of January. FINALLY, today I received a call from Home Again Medical stating that this would not be covered under any sort of warranty, and that we would have to pay for the repair to this equipment. I again stated that I had been calling since March last year regarding this problem and that they should repair this equipment at their cost. She stated that they had no record of my calls (rather convenient). Then she recommended that I just have the new insurance company provide a new lift. This lift is an extremely necessary piece of equipment - it is the only way I can move my husband. It should have been repaired back in March last year when I first started calling. AND, I should NOT have to pay for this repair. It was their equipment at the time I started having and calling about the problem. They should have fixed it 10 months ago.

Desired Settlement: I want this lift repaired completely - the missing screw and the hydraulic pump - and Home Again Medical should do this at their expense since I have been calling about it for 10 months - long before the equipment became mine.
