My mom had cancer and was admitted to ER for shortness of breath. The doctor said she was having a heart attack then said it was a mistake, she was not having a heart attack. She should have been released after 24 hours but they ended up keeping her as an inpatient for 5 days for "monitoring." As a result she missed the cancer tests ordered by her oncologist consisting of a mammogram and PET scan. She had been waiting 6 weeks for these tests that would properly diagnose the type of cancer she had and to begin treatment. **** refused to perform these tests even though they have the equipment on premises and said she would have to reschedule, mind you the tests are booked up 6 weeks in advance. She couldn't wait another 6 weeks to get an official cancer diagnosis and begin treatment. She was livid. She was literally dying from cancer but YRMC didn't care or do anything. After her 5 day stay she had muscle weakness and YRMC forced her to go to a skilled nursing facility to rebuild her strength even though she didn't want to go. She caught COVID at the skilled nursing facility and was readmitted to YRMC. During another week long stay at YRMC the cancer had spread to her bones and they finally discharged her because there was nothing they could do for her. She passed away from cancer 4 days later. This place does not care about its patients at all. YRMC used to be in the TOP 10 hospitals in the entire **************** but since it went corporate and got bought out by Dignity Health this place is a craphole. All they care about is keeping patients as long as possible so they can rack up a bill. The nurses refused to give my mom any pain killers for her cancer despite her crying out in pain. They basically shoved her out the door just wanting to be done with her. This place is despicable and appalling. Do not go here if you care about the health or wellbeing of yourself or your loved ones.
