BBB Customer Review Rating plus BBB Rating Overview
BBB Customer Reviews Rating represents the customers opinions of the business. The Customer Review Rating is based on the number of positive, neutral and negative customer reviews posted that are calculated to produce a score.
|Customer Review Experience||Value|
|Positive Review||5 points per review|
|Neutral Review||3 points per review|
|Negative Review||1 point per review|
BBB letter grades represent the BBB's opinion of the business. The BBB grade is based on BBB file information about the business. In some cases, a business' grade may be lowered if the BBB does not have sufficient information about the business despite BBB requests for that information from the business.
BBB Letter Grade Scale
Star Rating scale
BBB Customer Review Rating plus BBB Rating is not a guarantee of a business' reliability or performance, and BBB recommends that consumers consider a business' BBB Rating and Customer Review Rating in addition to all other available information about the business. If the BBB Rating is NR then only Customer Reviews are used for the Star Rating.

Complaint: My husband and I used ****** ***** with Summit Mortgage to purchase a rental property in Portland, and the loan was eventually sold to ***** ****** Our first loan payment was made to Summit and in their name. They recently sent us a 1098 form for taxes, but sent two copies. The first included all of the current information, including my husbands name, address, social security number and interest amount. The second copy contained my husbands name and address, but an incorrect social security number, interest amount and point amount. I am gravely concerned that this is a breach of privacy and that my our information could have been given to someone else.
Desired Settlement: I am unfamiliar with the options available, but would like credit monitoring for at least one year at the very least.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/02/12) */ **** ***** spoke with the borrower on Febraury 9, 2015 regarding the BBB filing and concerns over a security breach. She agreed that her filing was incorrect in regard to the misreporting of mortgage interest and points paid. She said she tried to amend the filing with the BBB and had reached out to them twice without success of amending the filing. We communicated our disagreement that this was a security breach, but we want to make sure the borrowers feel comfortable that their personal information is secure. We offered them one year of ******** (credit monitoring service.) The borrowers were going to discuss and get back in touch with us. As of February 12, 2015, we have not heard back. Regardless, if and when they do call, we'll gladly offer the service. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 8, 2015/02/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) **** ***** contacted me as soon as they received notice of my BBB filing and offered one year of LifeLock for my husband and I. Due to other factors, I have not yet had a chance to get back in touch with them regarding the ********* but we do consider any release of an erroneous social security number (whether it belongs to us or anyone else) a security breach. **** explained the circumstances that led to the error and assured me that steps would be taken to ensure that it would not occur again. On two separate occasions, I attempted to contact the BBB to amend my complaint as it contained some incorrect information. I have yet to hear back.
