Complaint: Do NOT have Muir Painting do any interior work - maybe their exterior work is better, but we paid 5K for all of our interior to be painted - ***, the owner said it would take 2 days. They were to paint cabinets, trim and walls. It took 6 days and the results are very disappointing. The guys didn't do any filling of holes or damages to the walls - they just painted over them - the cabinets have places where you can still see the oak thru the paint - when the 'guys' were finished, we called *** to express our concerns - he came out with one other guy to 'fix' the issues - still so disappointed - the touch up he did to the kitchen cabinet, isn't even the same color as the paint that was used and he must have used flat versus semi-gloss and there is not any clear coat on them, they just look painted. - we walk around and it is so disappointing to have spent so much money for such a crappy job. They say they usually do empty houses - well, probably rental houses, cause that is what this paint job looks like - honestly, when I paid for a professional painter, I really expected a better job than I could do myself -unfortunately, that isn't the case.
Desired Settlement: Not sure what I need from them - really don't want it worked on since *** did that, and didn't even get the paint color right - while my preference would be to have it done right - maybe they should consider refunding money and match the prices of a novice painter, since that is the quality I received.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2014/01/03) */ I am quite sure I did not tell her we could paint all her ceilings, walls, wood work including cabinets in two days. I did tell her oak cabinets had a heavy grain that was hard to paint. It took 4 coats to get them to look good and this took time. In fact I hardly made anything on the job. What I don't understand is that i went there on the last day and used the same paint that was left on site, we walked every room with her and looked at every wall and then she wrote a check (I never took money down). What I don't get is that if the cabinets were two colors and her walls full of holes, then why would she write a check? Could it be that everything looked fine? I would like to know what the "novice painters" bid came in at. Case # XXXXXXXX *** **** Muir Painting Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 17, 2014/02/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) As I stated originally in my complaint, I don't want them working in my home - if they'd done an adequate job initially, it shouldn't need to be repainted at all - I guess that is the point. I requested reimbursement for the poor work that was done, that has not been accepted, so I'm not accepting the final response to my complaint. Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2014/01/28) */ I would be willing to have one of my employees get a new gallon of paint and re-do the areas on the cabinets she is concerned about. This should not take all day, any remaining time he can walk through the house with her and address any other concerns. P.S. You apply the paint with a small roller and lay it off with a 3" foam pad and this should give a spray finish look P.S. Needs to be done before end of March
