Complaint: I rented a room from Red Lion on May 3rd, 2015. I called to make a reservation for the night of May 4th. I called around for a hotel that took pets, because my cat was travelling with me. Red Lion accepts pets so I made the reservation for $78.00 plus some $20.00 tax and pet fees, coming to $98.00.(It was a "special" reduction in price) Note: When I made the reservation I told them I had a cat. I did not misrepresent this, and when I asked if the price included the price for my cat, they said, 'Yes'. Looking at my bank statement, I see they debited the amount of $98.29 on May 4th for my room. THEN there was another charge of $17.18 on May 5th -- the day after -- which they claim is for my cat. They are charging me twice! I was very clear that my cat was coming with me, so adding this fee on "after the fact", and after they already charged me is uncalled for. By the way, I checked in at midnight and checked out at 3:45 a.m.. We were barely in the room 3.5 hours as it was. When I called billing to complain, the agent avoided talking to me and let it go to VM, although he had just talked to another agent seconds before.

Desired Settlement: I want the unauthorized debit of $17.18 to be put back in my bank account.

Business Response: A refund of $17.18 has been credited to the VISA account ending in **** for the pet fees posted on May 4, 2015.  The pet fee was not posted in error.  The customer used the third party travel agent ********* aka ********* to book the reservation.  In no way was the pet fee included in the room rate that was booked.  We understand that ********* does not have the travelers best interest in mind and gave them bad information indicating that the pet fee was included.  We will absorb the cost of the pet fee and hope that the customer will book directly with us in the future, avoiding this confusion in the future.
