Complaint: Promised to refund invoice on future service, if we bought service contract. Refused to give full refund. My mother is 89 yrs old and has dementia. My siblings and I stay with her in shifts, 24 hrs a day. On 06/14/2015, the serviceman came out to house, he found the heater board to be out. We were unable to afford the $650 to replace the board at that time. So he said if we would purchase a service contract that he would not charge for service call and give a 15% disc and replace the heater board in the fall but only if we would buy the service agreement for $179.(Inv#XXXXXX) X/14/15 SEA(service agreement) $179 + Blower Relay -service call $227 -15% disc -$30 for a total of $371.00. I asked at that time if they were going to deduct the full $371 at the time we had heater board replaced and he said, "yes." On 9/14/2015 we called because a/c would not come on. When he came out it was working and he "found no problem" and charged a $58 service call (Inv#XXXXXX). He suggested that he would deduct this charge at the time he replaced the heater board. Bringing the total deduction promised to $429, all contingent on our previously buying the service agreement. Today, 09/17/15, we had the heater board replaced. Inv#XXXXXX Furnace Control Board $650 - $285 deducted for a total paid today of $365.
Desired Settlement: They promised to deduct $429 but they only deducted $285. Deduction due of $144.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/18) */ While we very much regret Mr. *********'s misunderstanding of the transaction, the credit promised was for the cost of a blower relay towards the cost of a new furnace control board. The customer also purchased a service agreement that day that included one a/c maintenance, one heater maintenance, both of which have now been completed. The original invoice included both the relay and the one year agreement. He was given a full credit for that relay as indicated on original service ticket.
