Additional Notes

Complaint: I hired this company to install a new roof on my home. Soon after the installation, construction deficiencies related to the installation of the roof resulted in a roof leak which damaged the interior of my home. I immediately contacted the company and asked them to repair the damage. The company came out and repaired the roof, which stopped the roof leak. Due to the roof leak, the ceiling and walls in two bathrooms in my house were damaged and displayed water stains. The company performed a partial repair two these two rooms that looks terrible. They only painted part of the ceiling in both bathrooms, and you can clearly see the line where the paint stops. They also only repaired a portion of the wall. Finally, they did not reimburse me for the cost of paint I purchased for them to perform these repairs. It is my position that the company should have to repair all interior damage caused by their defective installation of the roof and should not leave me with partially completed repairs that look terrible.

Desired Settlement: I would like for the company to perform the appropriate repairs to correct the interior damage caused by their defective roof installation. In the alternative, they can pay me for the cost of having these repairs performed by another company.

Business Response: May 14, 2013
Better Business Bureau,
This letter is in regard to a complaint filed by ***** ****** of ***********. *** ****** called approximately 6 months ago with a complaint of a leak from a roofing job of numerous years ago. Gilmore technicians responded to the call & found a defective boot, which *** ****** wanted replaced & the interior damage repaired. Gilmore technicians completed the repair & *** ****** agreed that he would buy the paint & do the repainting himself. The technicians came back several times, on *** ******** time schedule, to mud & sand the sheetrock repair area. On the final trip *** ****** remarked that after speaking with his daughter that we should also paint the area. As roofers, we neither experienced painters nor are we licensed painters, but after some pressuring from *** ****** we agreed to paint the repair area, not the ENTlRE bathroom. We taped the area & applied his paint, when the paint dried *** ****** got agitated & stated that he "didn’t have time to babysit us" and became insulting. We declined to argue & left. We feel that we did everything to satisfy this issue. The only problem was with the paint type & color, which *** ****** provided.
