The CON in Aircon is truly a fitting description of this horrible business. Let me first start off by saying, I usually don't write negative reviews, but my experience with this company was so bad that I felt it necessary.
When you call the business, the woman who answers the phone is extremely rude and talks to you as if you are interrupting her day (she claims to be the owner.) I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they may be having a bad day, but unfortunately for me, I had to call back several times in reference to problems we began having after their visit.
We called Aircon for a simple service after being given advice that we should have the AC serviced at least once per year for preventative measure. When the tech came out, he checked the health of the system and said that it was in great shape. That said, he did recommend that we should replace a couple relays as they were not "in spec" and would likely give out on us soon. We agreed, and he went on his way.
2 days later our A/C stopped working. The condenser outside was running, but the air handler wasn't pushing any air through. We called Mrs. Attitude at Aircon the next day and she explained that our unit was vulnerable to power flickering on and off and that recent thunderstorms may have caused the unit to quit working. She said we should turn it off and turn it back on after an hour. This was the first red flag. We've owned the home for over a year and NEVER had a single issue with the A/C, despite several power outages.
So, we did as she said and hoped that the problem wouldn't happen again. The next night, the A/C quit working again. At this point, we're extremely irritated and worried that they may have done something malicious to our unit. I went to the garage and noticed that they used very cheap black duct tape to "seal" the air handler duct. So, I replaced it with some good aluminum tape for safe measure. More on that later.
I called Aircon the next day and they refused to take any responsibility for the issues we were having, despite the strong coincidence. The woman answering the phone even went so far as to claim that "they are forced to by cheap Chinese parts, and something that they replaced went bad, that's probably why." She also said that I would need to pay another service call for them to come back out. When I refused and threatened to call the better business bureau, she sent her husband (the other owner) out to evaluate.
I work during the day and asked my mother in law to be there when the tech came out. He came out and said that there was nothing wrong with the parts they had replaced and that the unit just may be at the end of its life and then TRIED SELLING US A NEW UNIT! I decided to call another A/C Specialist at the rec of a friend. I honestly couldn't believe his audacity, especially since the first tech that came out had said just a few days before that our unit was in great shape.
When the new Specialist came out, low and behold....a part (relay) that they had replaced was malfunctioning and causing the system to shut off. Well, needless to say, they won't be getting any of my business EVER again, and I hope anyone who is considering them for A/C work reads this review.
Oh...and remember that tape that I had mentioned. Well, as it turns out, they never re-inspected the parts that they had replaced the first go around. Do you know how I know? The seal from the aluminum tape had never been broken and I was the only one who had possession of that particular off brand of tape in my tool box.
AirCON is just that....A CON!!!
