I purchased tire chains for my ** from ******************* that was rated as heavy duty. I used the chains as they were required for cascade pass travel and installed per the manufacturer guidelines. The trip over the cascades was just fine and chains worked great. The return trip over the cascades went fine for several miles until we heard a loud bang sound. I pulled the ** to the side of the highway and upon further inspection the chains were wrapped around the wheel in a weird way and a tangled mess. Also there was damage to the wheel well, wooden box for the stair and heater propane line. I filed an Incident Claim Report with ******************* and they in turn forwarded to Laclede Chain Manufacturing. After 4 weeks, I got a letter of denial for my claim. Reason stated was chain was determined to have suffered from "Impact Breakage" and not defective materials or workmanship. I find this to be very misleading as the chains whether it be snow or ice...Chains have contact with road surface. So if they have any slack in the chains or too fast of speed or any related breakage...Laclede will use "Impact Breakage" as an out for claim denial. I find this practice really disgusting as the chain breakage caused about $1500 in damages. The chains maybe went 50 miles at a cost of $190 from *******************. So I am out $190 for poorly constructed chains and have to wait nearly 3 months for my ** to be repaired! Speed was 30mph or less and chains installed as per manufacturer; it all does not matter. So really buyer beware, ******************* shows a 1 year written warranty but its only if you do not use them and Laclede's warranty is a total sham!!!
