Complaint: RE-ROOF ON NORTH SECTION OF THE PORCH. APPOX AREA 30' X 11'. THIS INCLUDED TARE OFF OF OLD ROOFING AND REPLACE WITH GTA TORCHDOWN.
Desired Settlement: AFTER WORK WAS COMPLETED SMALL AREA OF ROOF STARTED LEAKING AFTER RAINFALL. ALLPHASE CAME BACK OUT (2)TIMES TO REPAIR AND MENTIONED THAT IT WONT LEAK AGAIN. AFTER NEXT RAIN STARTED, THE ROOF STARTED LEAKING IN SAME AREA. CONTRACTOR NOW WANTS MORE MONEY TO REPAIR WHAT HE WAS ALREADY WAS PAID FOR $1900.00.JUST LOOKING TO HAVE ROOF FIXED CORRECTLY WITH CONTRACTOR WITHOUT PAYING OUT MONEY FOR THE SECOND TIME.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2014/10/01) */ This project is a lower roof specific area repair. Unfortunately the leak was coming from above where everyone thought. Water testing proved that. We told them the upper portion needs to be done at this time. We could give them another bid. They wanted it fixed as part of the first project. It wasn't included. We feel bad but couldn't get into attic space as we were dealing with a manufactured home with no access. It's up to them now. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2014/10/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) the area that was roofed by this contractor and the area that is leaking never leaked prior to them performing the job. Now that we had a couple days of hard rain more leakes have developed over the same areas where new roofing was done and existing roof line. the contractor always comes back with reasoning of well it must be leaking higher up in the old roof, if that was the case we would have those leaks inside the house. you can also see where the contractor has used cauking on the edges of the existing roofing tabs hopefully to stops leaks. I have pictures of the finished job by this contractor and will have a professional Roofing company inspect and provide us with a full report on fixing the roof correctly. Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2014/10/03) */ Again, the areas leaking are above our contracted work. We proved that to them when we were out there twice by applying water thru hose. The upper portion was done by a unlicensed person. If the upper portion is to be done it will be at there expense. We went back twice to try and help. It didn't work. The upper portion needs to be removed and done over. Thats where the problem is. Again we didn't contract the upper portion. Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 12, 2014/10/10) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) ALL PHASE CONSTRUCTION IS STILL AVOIDING THE ISSUES OF LEAKS THAT HAD DEVELOPED AFTER THERE CREW CAME OUT TO MAKE A ATTEMPT TO REPAIR. PER MR *****'S SPECIFICATIONS OF ORDER, IT STATES 1)THAT GTA TOURCH DOWN OVER FRONT PATIO APPOX 30' X 11' AREA WOULD BE DONE. 2)PRIOR TO THE GTA ROOFING MR ***** STATED THAT REMOVE & REPLACE PLYWOOD ON THAT ENTIRE AREA WITH PLYWOOD AT $60.00 PER SHEET. 3)THIS IS TO INCLUDE A TEAR OFF OF THE EXISTING AREA. 4) INSTALL PERIMETER FLASHING. 5) APPLY TORCHDOWN UNDER HOUSE ROOF. MR. ***** HAD NEVER RETURNED TO THE JOB SITE TO INSPECT HIS CREWS WORK AFTER THEY HAD COLLECTED THE PAYMENT, MAKES ME BELEIVE HE HAD JUST TAKEN THE WORD OF HIS CREW THAT ALL THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE WERE COMPLETED. NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN DONE AT ALL. I HAD MY SON GET ONTO THE ROOF WITH A PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTOR FOR THE FIRST TIME THE OTHER DAY AND WERE JUST AMAZED OF WHAT LITTLE WORK THE CREW HAD DONE AND COLLECT $1900.00 FOR. JUST WHAT TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT THIS 30' X 11' AREA HAS NEVER BEEN STRIPPED OF PLYWOOD, ROOFING MATERIAL, OR HAD ANY REPLACEMENT MATERIAL ADDED. ONE AREA ABOUT 12" LONG WHERE THE CREW HAD USED A CALKING GUN TO APPLY A BEAD OF SEALER. OTHER AREAS THAT LITTLE WORK WAS DONE WAS WHERE THE TWO ROOFS MEET. THAT AREA IS APPOC 24" X 15', NOT LEVEL, AND CALKING APPLIED ALMOST AT EVERY TAB OF THE ROOFING MATERIAL, INFACT YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE CREW HAD WALKED IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE ORIGINAL ROOF AND ADDED SOME CALKING IN HOPES IT WOULD STOP THE LEAKS THAT THE CREW HAD DEVELOPED IN THE ROOF FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. I'M NOT SURE HOW MR ***** CAN CALL HIMSELF A CONTRACTOR AT ALL WHEN PROVIDING THE WORKMANSHIP THAT HAS BEEN DONE AND NOT EVEN FOLLOWING UP TO VERIFY THE WORK THAT HE HAS QUOTED TO OTHERS WAS COMPLETED. PICTURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN FOR THE FIRST TIME OF THE ROOF AND WILL BE SENT TO BBB AND MR ***** SO EVERYONE CAN SEE THE SMALL AREA WHERE THIS CONTRACTOR HAS TRIED TO MAKE ATTEMPT. ALSO WILL BE A COPY OF MR *****'S SPECIFICATIONS STATING WHAT HIS PLANS TO DO WITH THE ROOF, WHAT MATERIALS THAT HE WOULD USE, ETC......NO MATERIAL HAD BEEN INSTALLED OVER THE AREA STATED ABOVE. ***SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REDACTED BY BBB***
