Job Title: Communications Director

Reports to: President/CEO

Status: Non-exempt/salary

Position Goal:

Provide leadership in the creation and implementation of major communication initiatives in support of the missions of both BBB|Northwest Florida and the BBB Foundation Serving Northwest Florida; oversee and implement external and internal communications; represent BBB Serving Northwest Florida in the media and in the community;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, direct and implement all stages of communication strategies for BBB and the BBB Foundation for both internal and external audiences
  • Comply with branding standards as set by the Council of Better Business Bureaus and the Wise Giving Alliance
  • Write news releases and articles for public release; respond to media (television, radio, print and online) inquiries; proactively approach media outlets for coverage
  • Maintain BBB’s online presence through regular maintenance of BBB’s website (via a content management system), and sites including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest
  • Design, write and produce communication pieces including, but not limited to, print newsletters, electronic newsletters, ads, brochures, flyers and business cards
  • Conduct presentations and workshops for community, civic, senior, business and other organizations, utilizing existing curricula or creating new curricula as needed
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships with media outlets, chambers of commerce, financial crimes task force, local military installations and other organizations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports to track outreach efforts, as requested by the president/CEO

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to plan and prioritize work
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience with content management systems
Familiarity with utilizing social media outlets for business

Education and Experience:

Position prefers bachelors in Communication Arts with emphasis on marketing, public relations or journalism and previous marketing/communications experience. Familiarity with Northwest Florida media a plus as well as working with the military community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear.
