The Power House Youth Center, Inc. chose to conduct a legal organizational merge with their centers in Macon and New Haven. These entities all operate legally under one federal ID number and one 501 C 3 status. The Power House Alliance is the overall parent agency and the youth centers in Macon and New Haven are the local facilities. There is one Board of Directors and local Advisory Councils who provide local leadership. There is one Executive Director for the entire organization and local staff at each of the centers.


Stated Purpose

The Power House Youth Center provides a safe, drug free environment. Also seeks to provide youth of the community with positive alternatives to negative behaviors in a safe, drug free environment surrounded by caring Christian adults.

This seal, which can be displayed on the charity's web site and in printed materials, helps inform the public that the charity meets these standards. This organization participates in this program.


Programs

The following list is a basic outline of current programs that the Power House provides. All of these services are free to teens and available to any teen who expresses an interest.
Power Plant: Monday through Thursday they operate the Power Plant program after school. This time includes relationship building, games, snacks, homework help, positive adult interaction, special events, and pool. Some of the ongoing activities provided in Power Plant include:
Fit Club- Every Tuesday teens participate in this half hour introduction to healthy lifestyle. They engage in a mini lesson on a topic and then participate in the physical fitness activity for the day. Teens earn points each week for their level of participation and as they meet goal levels they earn prizes.
Movie Day- On afternoon a month is dedicated to showing a positive, fun, and sometimes even educational movie.
Monthly Competition - Each month a competition is held to challenge the members in a variety of arenas. Some of these include: pool, cards, Apples to Apples, Madden, NBA, Chess, and holiday trivia.
Family Day- The last Wednesday of each month is Family Day. This is a day where all of the Power House staff spends the entire afternoon engaging with the teens. Everyone participates in a group game and then sit down and have a meal together.

Glo: Friday nights teens are offered a club type environment to spend with their friends and positive adult role models. The safe and supervised setting is open from 8:00 pm until midnight. Throughout the evening members enjoy a variety of activities, including dancing, fames, and hourly contests. There is also a DJ that plays uplifting music, pool tables, and snack bar, and Wii station. This is a safe, drug and alcohol free place to be at no cost.

GAP: Friday Evenings from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm GAP is held. The evening begins with GAP Ahead where teens enjoy a homemade meal together and help the staff prepare for the evening activities. The first Friday of each month we hold GAP Fusion which is an interactive night that allows teens to get to know one another, build relationships with the adult volunteers, use some of their talents, and have fun while introducing the monthly topic. The rest of the month Power House has GAP which is a night of interactive teaching through multimedia sources, drama, video, music, dance, art and presentations.
