All the programs offered at Cancer Services are developed to address the psychosocial needs of people with cancer and their families. A significant portion of our Client Advocate's time is devoted to services of the family and care givers. The advocate can also make arrangements with adult for needed services and supplies for the client, and if they qualify, for financial assistance. In addition, home visits are made, if the care giver or client is unable to come into the office. Since treatment ranges 6 to 18 months, most family members must return to their employment to maintain health care coverage. Children usually receive treatment longer than adults. For girls treatment ranges from 2 to 3 years and boys from 3 to 4 years. Consequently, specialized services are provided to children and their families.
