Programs

Currently, the Fort Wayne Women's Bureau offers three major program services:

Women's Enterprise is a women's business center partially funded through the Small Business Association. The Women's Bureau provides entrepreneurial assistance and advocacy to women entrepreneurs through business counseling and mentoring, technical assistance, networking, and business-oriented classes and workshops. In 2008, Women's Enterprise served 1,494 clients.

"Transitions" is a residential treatment program for drug and alcohol addicted pregnant women and women with young children. The program offers gender sensitive addiction treatment, self sufficiency training, education and job skills, and parenting skills for successful family reunification. In 2008 43 women and 47 children were admitted to the program. Transitions is certified by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addition as an "Addictions Service Provider."

The "Rape Awareness Program" includes Rape Crisis Hotline providing crisis intervention services 24 hours a day, 7 day a week. On-going counseling is also provided to victims of sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence. In 2008, 113 clients were served on the 24/7 Rape Crisis Hotline, 58 clients who called directly to the agency were served, 55 clients received Individual/Group Counseling Services, and Outreach Services/Speaker's Bureau served 583 clients in 2008. This program also stresses prevention with two age appropriate programs. Assault Awareness for Teens educates middle and high school students about rape and teaches techniques to avoid, recognize and react to dangerous situations. The Assault Awareness for Teens served 4,231 clients in 2008. radKIDS is a 10 hour comprehensive personal empowerment safety program for grade school students. 800 young individuals participated in radKIDS Program in 2008. Upon graduation, every radKID knows three things: no-one has the right to hurt me; I don't have the right to hurt anyone else; if someone hurts me, it's not my fault and I can tell.

The Fort Wayne Women's Bureau is accredited by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities.
