BBB Warns Consumers of Fix N Save

TV Repair Company Broadcasts Bad Vibe

The BBB serving Northeast California is warning consumers to be aware of Fix N Save of Carmichael. Dissatisfied customers claim the company takes their televisions for repairs, and fails to either return or repair them.

“We paid $45 upfront for our $3,000 plasma TV to get fixed,” said a consumer from Citrus Heights. “After waiting for repairs to be done for over a year, we had to purchase a new one.”

In most complaints, consumers claim the company makes excuses for neglecting to repair or return the televisions. Other complainants say their efforts to secure their TV or a refund are ignored.

“I’ve called Fix N Save 25 times in the past 3 months inquiring about my TV that was suppose to be repaired in 3 days,” bemoaned a Folsom consumer. “They keep telling me it will be delivered, yet so far, I’ve received nothing.”

In other complaints, consumers are seeking refunds due to defective repairs.

“I called Fix N Save because my 50 inch [TV] was changing colors and making a whining noise,” said a Sacramento consumer. “When I got my set back, nothing was fixed. They’ve promised for months to come pick up and repair my TV. Now I just want my $385 back.”

Fix N Save currently has an F rating with the BBB for failing to respond to complaints. In one instance, the company did refund the customer, and in two cases, returned the TV.

BBB Advice:

- Check the company’s history with the BBB before selecting a TV repair company at www.necal.bbb.org.

- Verify that the company is licensed and has no outstanding complaints with the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair

- Pay with a Credit Card. Paying with a credit card allows consumers to dispute a charge.

- Read your contract carefully and request a receipt before surrendering your TV.
