Additional Notes

Complaint: New roof and gutters installed in July 2012. In mid October, a rain storm occurred late at night; we were awaken by extremely loud banging sounds coming from all of the down spouts. This sound was abnormally loud and excessive and woke everyone in the house. Sound is expected during rain, but I emphasize that this noise was extremely loud. I immediately contacted Action Roofing to report the problem. The owner came out and ACKNOWLEDGED the problem. He placed Scotch Brite(R) sponges in the bottom of the down spouts, claiming this resolves the problem. Clearly, this is not a solution or a permanent fix. Action Roofing DID NOT follow up. The sponges washed out immediately at the next rain and the noise persisted. I contacted Action Roofing again. They sent their gutter expert, who also ACKNOWLEDGED there was a problem. He attempted to fix on ONE of the down spouts, explaining that when he originally installed the down spout he had failed to fold a piece of metal causing water to fall down the center of the down spout and bang into the thin gauged metal at the bottom. I asked why he didn't fix the other gutters and he claimed he didn't have time and wasn't sure it would fix the problem. No follow up after this visit, either. (Note: he left this repair with a light colored sealer on a dark brown gutter claiming he didn't have the right color to fix it properly). I contacted Action Roofing again and they admitted that the real solution is to replace the round gutter outlets with rectangular ones to allow water to flow down the walls of the down spout rather than drop down the center of the spout. (ie..round spout, round hole; rectangular spout, rectangular hole). After repeated requests, Action Roofing has taken no "action". They have stated they will fix the issue, but have done nothing. When I call, they say they'll "get to it", it's "on their list", but they simply ignore the issue. Their lack of professionalism is astounding and extremely frustrating. They simply do not care.

Desired Settlement: I want the gutters fixed by profession gutter installer of my choosing, within reasonable cost, to be paid by Action Roofing Service. If I were to allow them to fix or choose the repairer, the job would simply NEVER be done. This issue was reported to Action Roofing well within warranty; they have acknowledged the problem and neglected to resolve the problem and displayed abject incompetence.

Business Response: We have contacted the customer and resolved this issue. Thank you for your support.

Action Roofing Service.

Business Response: Company states: The company is working with the customer. When it rains it makes a lot of noise in the downspout. We are doing everything we can do to make it quieter.

Additional Notes

Complaint: Called for a free estimate. Roofer came out when no one was home, without permission claims to have gotten up on the roof and sealed leaks. $85 charge I called Action Roofing on Friday December 7 to ask about an estimate. I was told someone could come out the next day to do a free estimate and if we didn't like the estimate just tell him no thanks and that would be the end of it. I waited at home all day Saturday and never heard from anyone. 3 more days went by and still no contact so, Wednesday December 12, I called again and talked to the same lady. Without asking my name or any information I was told that they were very busy and they would get here when they could. At this point I gave up on them and started calling other roofing companies. The next day, December 13, we were out of town and when my wife returned later that night, we had two messages on our answering machine. The first was at 1:57 saying that the owner was on his way out to take a look. An hour later there was a second message saying that since no one was home, he had taken it upon himself to climb up on our roof (without our permission) and fix some problem areas. We were never given an estimate, nor were we given the chance to explain what kind of services we were looking for. How did he have any idea that what he was doing had anything to do with why we had called him in the first place? Then the message said that we owed $85. For what? I have no idea what has or has not been done. I do know that the service we were looking for was not performed. The next day, I called to talk to the owner and he proceeded to tell me that I should be thankful that he did it instead of having to come back and "charge you a lot more." When I asked how I could be sure the correct repairs were done, I was told that they are not "that kind of business." After doing some research, I called and informed the receptionist that I had talked to in the first 2 phone calls that I didn't feel comfortable paying for services that I neither requested or authorized, much less witnessed. She then proceeded to scream at me and try to make feel likethis whole ordeal was, in some way, my fault. I will be having another company come out and do an inspection of the roof. All in all, I have no idea if this company is honest or not, but I do know they are not the least bit professional.

Desired Settlement: I feel like I shouldn't be held financially responsible for sevices that were done while I was not home, without my consent and without proof that there was any work done.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
I, ****** ******, did reply to this complaint on December 21, 2012. I printed it out and have a copy in my file that reads. I do appologize for amy inconvenience we may have caused ******. We responded as quickly as possible and did our best to resolve the problem. We are an honest business and would never charge a customer for services not rendered. I am sorry he feels like that is something we would ko. I tried to tell him I would pull the invoice and he would not be responsible for the $85.00 however, we would not be able to service his roof in the future. He did not hear me. We agree with his resolution.
