Complaint: Faulty repair and extreme unprofessionalism The plumber replaced a pressure regulator valve and shut off valve (near street) on 8/20/2012. I paid him $350 on invoice 7160. Same day I noticed that the shut off valve was leaking so called him back out. He returned the next day and was argumentative, impatient, and started yelling at me about how I know nothing about plumbing. He left without fixing it (while calling me several expletives) so now I need to call another plumber to fix the crappy job he did.

Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the $350 that was paid to him since I now have to find another plumber to do repair his work.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
I did arrived to the job site on Sunday, August 19, 2012. For a high water pusher problem, customer indicate that the preacher regulator is bad, I gave the customer a price, I gave him two options; 1) one for complete job include digging parts and labor $475.00. 2) parts and labor only $350.00. Customer said that he can dig it, and he'll call me when he is ready, I left his house. Approximate an hour later I called him to see if he is ready and he reply that he is almost ready. I arrived at his house with all the parts. Before replacing the new regulator his house PSI was 110 , after replacing the regulator his PSI became 45-50 which is normal. I finished the job, customer signed the invoice, I go paid fo the service $350.00 The next day I received a call from customer stayted that he see a wet spot in ground in the regulator box, I told him that I'll be there the next mornning to look at his problem. I did not find any problem and customer did not talk about the leak, he was talking about PSI , put my gadg to test PSI and PSI was 45-50 which is very normal. Customer become irritated and I did not understand why, and out of the blue, as I am walking to my truck to pick up a tool , the customer reply to me " hey, buster, I'm an engenir" I was in shock, and did not expect that, and because of that I left. Just for the "engenir" you have to be a person before getting a title.!!

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This is another example of the unprofessionalism exhibited by this plumber. It is a complete lie that he didn't find any problem leak. He acknowledged that the valve was leaking when he inspected it! I have the invoice from the second plumber that I had to pay to fix the leak to prove it. Besides not honoring his guarantee and fixing the leak he created, the water pressure regulator that he installed was not adjusted properly for a large (over 4000 sq ft) two story home. A 40-50 lbs setting is for an average sized one story home. When the water comes out of the faucet in a trickle, then it is because the water pressure regulator is set too low, it is not because the city water pressure is too low like he claimed. A simple adjustment of the water pressure regulator was all that was required by the second plumber, but instead A1 Affordable Plumbing chooses to berate their customer. Aside from the extremely poor customer service and unprofessionalism, his honesty is questionable. When A1 Affordable plumbing was here the first time, he also looked at my water heater system and tried to tell me that it wasn't installed to code and that he could fix it. It actually is installed correctly to code and this was verified by the second plumber. So either A1 Affordable Plumbing doesn't know the local plumbing building codes, or he is trying to get me to pay for an unnecessary repair. None of these scenarios should earn an accredited stamp of approval by the Better Business Bureau. The second plumber was responsive, friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The complete opposite of A1 Affordable Plumbing. I would still like to be reimbursed by A1 Affordable Plumbing, at a minimum the amount that I had to pay to the second plumber to correct their incomplete job. That invoice (#XXXXX) was for $75.

Business' Final Response
I am trying to be very gentel, but this customer is such a liar that it's hard to believe as well manipulator. I will agree to refund the $75 after I will receive a copy by fax of the invoice, and a latter from customer that remove a1 affordable plumbing and water heaters of any responsibility from this repair. My fax #XXX-XXX-XXXX He will receive the refund in 7 business days after faxing and agreed to this terms.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
