Complaint: **** build a sunroom a few years ago for my son *** and did not weatherize carpet -it gets wet and mildews. He has refused to do anything **** did not weatherize the floor and carpet and have tried for 2 yrs to get him to do something. He refused. He installed defective GFR - called him within one yr - he refused to do anything. He installed single pain door - contract stated everything to be dual pain - he refused to do anything and swore at my son after I reported him to the contractor's board. The public should be warned about him.

Desired Settlement: been trying for years to get him to weatherize and replace carpet and replace door

In response to your letter dated August 23, 2013 and with respect to the above Claim numbers this case has been reviewed by the Better Business Bureau, Contractors State License Board as well as an independent contractor hired by Surety Bond Company. I have attached, once again the documentation which demonstrates that West Coast Home Products has satisfied the original contract with *** ****** dated 4/6/2005. Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) First of all, the contract states Delux Garden Room The contract also states it was signed in May 05. **** states the room was finished in May 04. Why was there not a contract until a year later?. We did not see the display model and was told not to install it unless we were home, they installed it when we were at work. Nobody came to the home to inspect the inside of the room, appointments were always cancelled. The carpet was supposed to be indoor - outdoor, which it is not because concrete gets wet in bad weather. Indoor - Outdoor will not get mildew. GFI was not replaced. ****'s room installer installed the carpet and did not weatherize the concrete. I have requested the name of the manufacture of the sunroom and requested the warranty and seem to be nothing from him. All sunrooms windows and doors come as a complete package. Three other contractors stated this. The home is jointly owned by ****** and *** and if **** remembers, I, *************, gave him the full payment for the room but he only wanted *** to sign the contract. *** is here with me and we are both making these statements. If you need something from ***, he could send something. We asked for Brochure for sunroom and warranty and have been refused. I would like these items sent to me and also the door replaced and carpet replaced. This is a health issue now - when it was reported before there was not mildew or health issues. I will report it again the the contractors board. Mr Sage did not inspect anything when I was home so he could not inspect inside.

Final Business Response
In response to your letter dated September 4, 2013 and with respect to the above Claim numbers this case has been reviewed by the Better Business Bureau, Contractors State License Board as well as an independent contractor hired by Surety Bond Company. this case has been ongoing for too long now. I have attached, once again the documentation which demonstrates that West Coast Home Products has satisfied the original contract with *** ****** dated 4/6/2005. To further demonstrate our position the following summarizes the continued complaints. 1. The Garden Room installed and completed on May 15, 2004 was specified as a "display special", hence the substantial reduction in retail price. The contract clearly states Dual pane "windows". The room was purchased by Mr. ****** from a display used at the Cal Expo Home and Garden Show. Please refer to Exhibit 5A in the attached. An independent contractor clearly agrees that West Coast was not contracted to install a dual pane sliding door. 2. The carpet installed is Aladdin, Conqueror 22/26 Level Loop polypropylene. This product was designed for moderate to heavy traffic. The carpet was purchased from ************ in Rancho Cordova, California and professionally installed by Unicorn Construction. They have installed this grade of carpet to garden rooms for West Coast and other Garden Room contractors for over 20 years. As specified by the contract and agreed to by Mr. ****** the carpet installed was Spruce #556. Additionally, the flooring was installed per manufacturer's specification. There is no lifetime warranty on flooring material. Please see Exhibit 5 attached. 3. Finally with regards to the electrical/GFI inside the room. We would like to go on record one more time that the GFI has been addressed twice. ******* Construction replaced in once under warranty the first time and also a second time per *** ********* request. Again we were called regarding the GFI and Mr. ****** of **** and Associates confirmed that the GFI is in-deed functioning. Please see back up documentation 2A. In conclusion, we feel that we have completed this contract and would appreciate this matter be brought to a close. I also would like to point out again, that I do not have, nor have I ever had a contract with ***** ******* West Coast's contract is with *** ****** who does not seem to be making the complaints.
