Complaint: This company won't stopping making unsolicited sales calls. Even though my elderly mother (with dementia) is on the Do Not Call registry, they continue calling her. I notified the company and told them we were not interested in their products and did not want any more calls from them. The salesperson apologized and said they would put her on their DNC list. Several days later a salesman showed up at her door. I angrily insisted that we were not interested and did not want any more contact from them. Since then the calls have continued on a daily basis. This kind of behavior is unscrupulous. They prey upon the most vulnerable members of our society. What they're doing is not only illegal it's immoral.

Desired Settlement: I want this company to stop calling my elderly mother. I would also like an apology from them for their disrespect, and the irritation and aggravation they have caused.

Business Response: On June 17, our Scheduling manager in our Call Center replied to Ms. *********** via email to let her know that after investigating the phone number that she indicated she was receiving calls on was put on our internal Do Not Call List on August 30, 2012.  The manager apologized to Ms. *********** on behalf of the company.  She placed the same phone number to our Do Not Call list once again, and said that if she had any other numbers that she would like on this list, to let us know.

On June 18, Ms. *********** responded to the email to thank our manager for making sure the number was on the Do Not Call list.  She had another number that was a concern (her elderly mother) and asked that the number also be added to the list.

We added the number to the list indicating that it generally takes about 48 hours to drop off our calling lists, however, we will make every effort to ensure her that her mothers number is not called again.  We again apologized to Ms. *********** for any inconvenience this has caused.

Consumer Response:
Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

BBB's Final Determination: Consumer accepted resolution offered by the business.

Complaint: K-Designers vinyl siding did not save us any money on the utilities bills. "BENEFIT AT ALL" Called several times for them to come out about a whole the left in the inside of our house they said that wasn't due to their work. The vinyl siding is falling apart and its creepy. People get scared when he push our door bell because the wall sinks in. They lied about special discounts.

Desired Settlement: I would like them to remove this crap off my house and put stucco or paint.

Business Response: K-Designers spoke to Mrs. Smith on Tuesday, June 10th.  She called us in 2010 with a need of a service call.  We explained to her in 2010 that the product is warranteed for life, but the labor (installation) was for 1 year (which, is a state requirement).  We explained to her that we have a small inspection fee to go out and look at their home.  She refused to agree to the service inspection fee and decided not to go ahead.

The original installation was in 2008.  She did not call us since 2010.  Now we get the complaint from the Better Business Bureau.  When we contacted her on Tuesday, June 10th, we again explained the small inspection fee because the 1 year labor warranty was at 2 years in 2010 and now is 6 years since the installation.  She used bad language and hung up on our service technician.

We will call her on Friday, June 13th to arrange the inspection and waive the fee.   We will let you know when we have resolved this complaint.  It will probably be 10 days to 2 weeks because we have to send a service technician from Sacramento to Rialto, Ca near Los Angeles.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved

Complaint: We received a call from K Designers and I have to say it was the most rude and unprofessional sales call I've ever received. When she first started telling me the reason why she called, I politely told her we're not interested and thanked her for her call. She ignored what I said and continued with her sales pitch. I repeated twice, she ignored again and again. I reminded her our no. is on the Do Not Call Registry and her response, 'well, we are registered with the state attorney office'. I again told her that I am not interested, and she responded, 'So I'll go ahead and put you down for 4pm next Saturday.' Imagine my frustration at that point. I questioned, 'are you not listening to me?' and she said, 'I think you should stick with this appointment because it's good for you.' Oh my god! By then I was furious and had to finally hang up. How can this company have a A+ rating while they are harassing people like this? It's ridiculous. I think the management encourages such behavior because other people have had similar experience and clearly it's still continuing. K Designers - Shame on you.

Desired Settlement: Apology from the management for the rude and unprofessional behavior of their sales rep., disciplinary action against her, fix their sales dept., and a promise to not call me or other people that are registered on Do Not Call.

Business Response:

We apologize for any inconvenience our marketing program may have caused you, and have placed your phone number on our internal “Do Not Call” list.  I do apologize for the agent and their inability to follow our call policies. When you indicated that you were on a Do Not Call List the agent in question should have verified your name, phone number, and confirmed with you that you were being placed on the internal do not call database per our written policy.   We do not wish to call people who are not interested in the opportunities we have to offer, and we again apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced

The agent responsible has been disciplined according to our disciplinary policies, and has been placed on probation.  And now that we have removed your phone number from our list you should not receive any more communication from K-Designers unless you request that we call you.  If however, you do receive some unsolicited contact please do not hesitate to call me so I may review the situation and resolve it immediately.

K-Designers is a registered third party solicitor for ******** ***** ****** *** *****.  We are also registered with the State’s Attorney General as a charitable solicitor giving us the ability to call on behalf and in partnership with a Charity. However, we do not wish to call people who are not interested in the opportunities we have to offer, and we again apologize for any inconvenience you feel you may have experienced

Complaint: K Designers installed windows an patio doors in two of our homes, the installation of this was very bad. have made many attempts to get them to fix this. as their is a implied warranty. The feeling is they got your money an their done with you. No communication. if their is its never the same person, if they really care they should be contacting us the customer. the way I see it, our business is them.

Desired Settlement: replace one sliding patio door. reset all the windows for they were not set right for their is interior damage that needs repaired. the windows were not sealed on the outside or insulation put in, or they pay for a contractor that we get to fix this. an give new windows an doors if they can not be reset or repaired.

Business Response: After reviewing Mr. *******'s concerns and speaking with him it was determined that we would order a new patio door and install, re-set the problem windows and re-trim the bay window.

We will let the BBB know when this is completed and to Mr. *******s satisfaction.

Thank you.

Consumer Response: I am rejecting this response because: with what has happened with this company as far as communication their is know follow threw. lots of talk. their installations are not real professional. got to wonder about that group out of Billings.

Business Response: Our Branch Manager, **** ***** spoke with him yesterday, again… and he seemed very satisfied with the plan to replace the patio door and install, and re-install the problem windows, and re-trim the windows at no cost.  **** let Mr. ******* know that the patio door had to be ordered, and we would get back to him on Monday, May 19 to give him a date when the door would arrive (should be within 2 weeks) and schedule the install and address his problems with the windows.

Additional Notes

Complaint: This company does not follow the National Do Not Call registry, and repeatedly cold-calls people. I have received three calls from them in the last two days despite having never had any interactions with this company. The calls come from 800-728-3902, which is their phone number listed on their home page: http://www.k-designers.com/home.asp (top-right corner under "Call Today").When I did a Google search for the phone number, I found that many other people have the same complaint, namely that this company has called them unsolicited despite them being on the DNC registry. Some reports mention that the representatives have been rude and openly acknowledged they are not following the DNC registry. This sort of sales tactic is not appropriate, nor is it a good business practice.

Desired Settlement: K Designers displays the BBB Accredited Business logo on their home page. They knowingly violate the Do Not Call registry, which is a bad business practice. Either they need to stop calling people on the DNC registry, or they should lose their BBB accreditation.

Complaint: One day we received a phone call asking if we needed a window repair, and I said yes. She said well we have a salesman in your area can we make an appointment for you? So I said yes.
So *** ****** arrived and started to talk with us. He led us to believe that he worked through Costco who has a very good reputation. Because of this I believed him and trusted him. I also gave him my Wells Fargo Credit card and in so doing he told me to go to the customer service desk to get an updated Costco card, and they did not know him or know  what kind of card we needed, and $100 charge came through our credit card bill.
At the end of  appointment we signed for  3 windows and a shower in the amount of $17,882.03. This amount was turned over to Sky collection agency. We paid in full.
*** ****** assured us that we would receive points (2700-2800) to be used  on our house repairs through them. We have not received the points as of 1-26-14.
The window installers, were good, but should have left on our windows papers explaining what kind of window they are. We know this because we went to Home Depot to order four more windows like the one put in by installer.
Also the installer for the shower did a wonderful job.

Desired Settlement: ***Please See Attached Documents***
We hope that this pushy-type of salesman can be stopped from taking advantage of elderly people anymore. We would like to receive the promised points of  (2700-2800) to be used  on our house repairs through them.

Business Response:

Dear BBB:

The customer is satisfied with work done.  We installed a sink & faucet for them, and are sending them a dividend certificate to use towards future purchases.

Thank you.

Consumer Response: The company stated "Customer is satisfied with work done" and "We are sending them a dividend certificate to use towards future purchases". Which we don't understand the letter with it said that it had to be used by Jan 2013. We received the letter in Feb 2014, We have to call about all of this. The workers were hard workers. The salesman was a pusher and a little untrue or misleading.

Business Response:

Mr. *********** was called by our Branch Manager in Portland.   We are sending Mr. *********** a new Dividend Certificate, and he seemed to understand, and was okay with that.

Additional Notes

Complaint: Starting in September of 2013, I have been attempting to get K-Designers in Omaha to come out and repair a caulking issue I have with my tub system they installed in 2012. Shortly after (within 60 days after the install) I noticed the caulking was separating between the tub and the wall surround. They came out and placed a larger bead of caulk between the tub and surround. By September of 2013, this caulk began to show signs of mildew and mold, which I was unable to clean. All of the other caulk joints in the tub area showed no signs of this mold/mildew which made be believe the product they used in the first fix was inferior. For the last 4+ months I have contacted not only the Omaha office a minimum of 3 times, but also their corporate office a minimum of 3 times to get someone out to fix this problem. The times I had spoken on the phone with the corporate office, they promised to get someone out and waive the "fee" (even though I started addressing this within the warranty period), to no avail. This complaint is my next step in addressing this and getting K-Designers to own up to the issue and do what is needed to fix this problem.

Desired Settlement: I want K-Designer to come out and replace the caulk between the tub and the surround, at no cost to me, with the appropriate manufacturer's recommended caulking material that is provided by the manufacturer of the acrylic surround and tub. I want this completed within the next 30 days with no more broken promises or excuses.

Business Response: We have made an appointment with the homeowner for Friday, March 7th, and will let the BBB know the outcome as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Business Response: We went to homeowners today, and re-caulked again.  The homeowner requested that we come back in 10 days, then will sign off on the completion.

Consumer Response:  The business failed to contact me with a follow up as promised and I was unaware of the automatic closure of the original complaint. They had promised to contact me within 10 days of the repair and failed to do so. I had also asked a specific question regarding care of the product that was not responded to.1. They need to follow up with me in regards to proper product care. This was not done.2. Explain as to why there was no follow up conversation as promised.

Business Response:

The work was completed on March 26, 2014.  They replaced the silicone around the tub liner the week of the 10th.  Went back on March 26, and customer signed off on completion service/repair order.

Thank you.

Complaint: These windows leak air around them worse than the old window did. When the wind is blowing at 45 miles per hour or higher, they whistle louder then a train with sqrueelling brakes. We (my son Jerry) and I have complained a number times to the local office in Omaha, Nebraska. They say they will be out, but they never show up or keep their promise of checking and fixing the problem. We feel they are taking us for a ride and trully care less now that they have been paid. We have been scammed by K-Designers and I believe more people should be made aware of their foney customer service.

Desired Settlement: Fix the leaky air around the windows or refund me 1/2 the cost of the windows and installation cost.

Business Response: Our installers went to the ******* home on Monday, March 17.  We discovered that 3 windows were not closed all the way, and gave instruction on how to close them to the customers satisfaction.  We let the homeowner know that we would follow up with them in 10-days to see if everything is working properly.

Complaint: Not correctly installed, cold air coming thru, also not sealed with caulk on inside the window. They did replace two windows finally that took 5 months. The guy that came to put the two windows in said they were not properly insulated around the inside of the window under the trim, which was causing them to leek cold air. They have been contacted by myself on several occasions and have excuses on why they can't come to properly install them.

Desired Settlement: I would like at least half of what I paid back since they won't fix properly.

Business Response: Dear BBB:

We have an appointment on Friday, March 7th, and are planning to blow-in foam around the windows.

Thank you.

Business Response:

Complaint: This company keeps calling me at all hours of the day & night, waking me up. I have chronic health issues & desperately need my rest. Each time i try to tell them that we are on the National "Do-Not-Call" list, then they promptly reply with a rather scripted response that, "They are allowed to call whomever they choose since the US Attorney General's Office is fully aware of who they are. AND...because they are considered a CHARITY organization" (Huh?) So, i politely ask them to please remove me from their list & NEVER call me again. However, they not only keep giving me more excuses as to WHY they are legally allowed to keep calling me, but they persist in calling me anyway! Their website has them listed as an "A+" BBB member site. If you do a quick web search of their phone number you will see that they are spam-calling everyone, and asking for private information. PLEASE help to do something about this company. ###-###-#### is the phone number that keeps harassing me.

Desired Settlement: Please either banish them from the BBB (Have them remove it from their site since they do NOT uphold your standards), and if at all possible...please forward to the proper authorities for the DO-NOT-CALL registry, or whomever else can assist with SPAM calling.

Consumer Response: I am rejecting this response because:

First of all, this supposed apology letter is simply filled with excuses & "Additional attempts at advertising themselves to me" - which i find highly insulting.  Rather than simply apologizing & leaving it at that, they are still trying to sell themselves, their product, and their ideologies to me. Why on Earth would a company claiming to sell "Home Remodeling" also try so hard to push the point that they are a registered third party solicitor for a charity organization? That would be like me going to McDonald's and instead of ordering a hamburger...i buy a car for someone in a third world country. Again, they have nothing to do with each other in a business sense...so why try to hide behind a disguise? It is VERY missleading & it is the primary reason that "EVERYONE" in the online forums are complaining about this company....not just me!  These people need to be stopped. Spamming is illegal, no? Well, according to the federal government,,,when i signed up for the DO NOT CALL Registry; they said that so long as i notify the telemarketer that i am on this list...they "Have to remove it with no questions asked."  Yet, they continued to call me even after i told them. The ONLY reason they sent this fake apology letter is becuase they don't want to get in trouble with the BBB. These people will not stop.

Don't believe me...do a quick online Google search with their phone number & see just how many people take the time to write a negative review or comment about them. Now imagine how many thousands of people that DO NOT take the time...they simply "Let it slide."

Is THIS what the BBB allows when placing their stamp of approval on a "Certified" business?  If they wish to sell siding or remodeling...then so be it.  But how dare they hide behind the ruse of a charity organization. Why can't they simply state that up front?  Why....because they are deceiving people.  Enough is enough!  When does this stop?

Sincerely,

******* ********

Business Response: Dear ******* ********:

Many consumers are unaware that the laws in many states (including California), allow for charities and those who are registered with the state on behalf of a registered charity, may contact everyone.  When an individual contacted on behalf of a charity requests to be put on that charity's Do Not Call list, then the individual is to be placed on both the charity's and co-venture company's internal Do Not Call list.  You have been placed on our Do Not Call list as ****** ****** explained in his response to you.

We apologize for any misunderstanding you may have had through this process.  You should not be receiving any more calls from us on the phone number that we have placed on our Internal Do Not Call list.  We will be sending you a gift card to have lunch on us for any inconvenience you may have felt.  If you have any other questions, my contact information is the following:

Complaint: We purchased new windows in February 2013, windows were not properly installed. Wind blows in around them and Frost and ice form inside the windows. Windows were purchased Feb. 2013 for $12,928.77. The windows were financed through Green Sky financing, done by K Designers. Sales rep *** ******. Made promises of lower heat and cooling bills. HE said they would do studies of our heating bills to see the savings. As far as I know that was never done. The windows arrived 5-6 weeks later. They were installede in 2 days. HAlf way through the 1st day one of the installers injured himself and had to go to the hospital to be treated. This put them behind schedual and in a rush. I came home at noon the second day and they were finished, loaded up to go with one of them waiting for me to inspect the work. There was not much time, I felt rushed and signed off. and they left. As was arrainged the inside trim was left off so I could put new trim on. As I was working on every window I found spaces around them that had not been insulated and you could feel wind blowing in. I got foam insulation myself and did them. When It started getting cold in December all the windows started forming condensation along the bottoms of the windows inside of the house. When you hold your hand along the bottoms of the windows by the trim you can feel cold air commimg in. These are sliding windows and were they meet with the stationary part of the window you can feel cold air. This was supposed to be one of the selling points of the windows was how well they seal. Further inspection outside found they did not chaulk around the molding they took off and reinstalled or around the aluminum they wrapped it with. When installing the windows they purchased boards at a local lumber yard for the sills and said it was not what they needed but would make it work. I feel the way the sills were installed is one of the biggest problems with the installation. Insulation can not be properly installed to make them sealed right. My wife contacted someone from K Designers Omaha office the begining of December and told them of the problems, they said a work order request would be sent. It never came, she contacted Ken at the Omaha office, who siad one would be sent and also tried to tell her that moisture was normal. As of December 23rd we still had not been contacted about some one coming to inspect the windows. That morning there was frost on the the trim around several windows and ice in the tracks of others. I have pictures of this. I called the Omaha office and talked to *** ****** the salesman who sold us the windows and told him the problems we were having. He assured me a serviceman would call that day to talk to us about setting an appointment to come out. As of today no one has called. If you call their office during off hours you can't leave a message. These windows have not lived up the the promises that were made. They keep making promises to send some one to fix the problem and have not done this.

Desired Settlement: What we want done is to have these windows properly installed and insulated. The only way I feel this could be properly done is for them to be removed and reinstalled correctly. When I talked to *** ****** on Dec. 23rd 2013 he said he wished we would have contacted him sooner. He said this was not the way they do business. He said they would make this right even if it meant putting in new windows. I want them to live up to their promises and make this right. we spent alot of money on these windows and so far they are a dissapointment.

Business Response: K-Designers met with homeowner at their home on January 3rd and discovered the necessary corrections to be made, and the homeowner has agreed to let us know by Wednesday, January 8th the best day for us to schedule a return to do the work. We will let the BBB know as soon as it is scheduled.
Thank you.

Consumer Response: I am happy with their response and coming to check the windows, but the work has not been done yet. I have contacted them to tell them when they could come and do the work and have not heard back yet. I want to be sure this is properly taken care of before I sign off on it.

Business Response: Our production crew finished up on the consumers home last night (January 15) and they signed off on our satisfied completion form.

Consumer Response:
Complaint:

I am rejecting this response because: As far as the work that was done on the outside of the house, we are satisfied with it. The contractor did very good work. He was courteous and professional. He stopped the wind that was coming in around the windows. we are still having issues with condensation on the glass where the windows seal. In some places with blinds the condensation is very heavy. One of the major selling points of these windows was supposed to be how well they sealed. We feel they are not performing as we were told they would and will be talking to K Designers about this. I have attached a picture of one of the windows (taken 01/19/14) showing the condensation that forms overnight when the blind is pulled down. The temperature was 19 degrees that night. When it gets colder the condensation is heavier.

Sincerely,

***** ****

Consumer Response: (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is a business that is partnering with a legitimate charity to shield themselves from having to comply with the Do Not Call List at the Federal and State level. If it is not illegal, it is certainly unethical.
They should abandon this practice. If one looks at the internet, there are a lot of sites talking about the BUSINESS-related robo calls this business is placing, hiding behind their charitable sponsorship to justify it.
In fairness, they DID remove me from their call list, but I want them to comply with the Do Not Call List. These folks are rated A + by BBB and I would say their actions make that rating by the BBB highly questionable, and I would hope you would look at that.

Complaint: The company called my phone, which is on the DO NOT CALL list and left rude comments about my last name. Complaint: Having problems with repairs being completed and poor installation practices Have had a lot of problems with K-Designers since 1995 when siding was installed. Siding is wavy and warped, wires to our doorbell were cut and was not repaired. The window screens caulked shut. In May we had issues with warping--an agent came, said someone would fix the problem--never did. After returning service & repair agreement in May 2013, we are still waiting to get repairs done. In July an appointment was made with a **** ***** to get issued settled and he never showed up. We are still waiting to get this siding repaired.

Desired Settlement: For the repairs to get done

Business Response: Initial Business Response
We are going to the customers home on Thursday, November 14, and will report back to BBB when completed. Thank you.

Final Consumer Response
The original siding was installed in 1995, however, new siding had to be installed in November of 2011, because of warping, and also they did not carry the same color of our siding any longer. As I mentioned in my previous rebuttal, I provided k-Designers with pictures of insulation where it showed black mold. I believe that this could cause severe health issues. It was also installed incorrectly. The siding was fastened with screws preventing it from expanding and contracting properly. The siding does not line up from one wall to the other. Many other issues need to be resolved. I am very disappointed with K-Designers and will not recommend them to anyone. I have asked *****, (field supervisor from Denver, Co) to come and inspect the work, and is scheduled to come on December 10, 2013. ****** ********

Final Business Response
We've completed all the repairs on the ******** home. The original project was done in 1995. 18 years have since past and we have no legal responsibility to provide any repairs to the homeowner. However, in the interest of customer relations, we provided the service to resolve the BBB complaint. The homeowner still has concerns about the future longevity of the work performed. K-Designers remains confident that the areas serviced have met industry standards. In addition, we firmly believe we have acted in good faith to resolve the homeowners concerns. Should any material defects occur in the future, we will defer the homeowner to the manufacturer.

Complaint: Company engages in repeated, unsolicited phone calls. When informed that I am on the national DNC list calls increased to 3 times per day. I have never had any dealings with this business, nor authorized any other business or entitly to give my personal information to them. My land line has been on the national Do Not Call registry since it's inception. My phone number is unpublished. I screen all incoming calls to my land line. Approximately 10 weeks ago I began getting calls from 800-728-3902 listed as k-designs at a rate of once a week. The frequency of calls increased gradually until four days ago it reached once per day. Brief online research see http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-728-3902 or http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/XXXXXXXXXX showed that this has been a common practice for this business for more than 3 years. Two days ago I informed them by phone that I am on the DNC list and demanded that they cease calling me. Yesterday the calls Increased to 3 times per day. I have filed a complaint with DoNotCall.gov and registered their number on my phone company's blocking service. Complaint: In Dec of 09 I bought windows & storm door. I started having problems (door) in Sept. of 10. After numerous calls they came out in Dec of 12. Didn't have what they needed to fix the storm door with them, said they would be back. I have been calling at least once a week since then. Twice they set dates to come out and didn't show. Over the past few months they changed to a service charge if they come out. I refused to pay because that wasn't in effect when the problem started. Now they say the warranty is off and there's nothing they can do for me. They strung me along all this time for nothing. Some of the calls I made to them they was just plain rude.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Fix it or new door. At this time the door doesn't even latch. Please get to the bottom this. I don't like getting jacked around the way they did me.

Business Response: Initial Business Response
We have no legal obligation to continue to perform service work, at no charge, on Ms. *****'s storm door. However, in the interest of customer relations, we are prepared to install a new storm door at no charge. Ms. ***** runs a day care facility and the storm door gets considerable abuse. The warranty has long since expired and we have performed several service calls on the storm door in the past at no charge. We will be having Ms. ***** sign an acknowledgement that in the event there are any more issues with the storm door in the future, she will be responsible for the applicable service charge and/or replacement cost.

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) K Designer's call center did not identify themselves as a charitable organization. They identified themselves as a home remodeler which does not exclude themselves from the DNC registry. If this company is concealing themselves under the guise of a charity in order to promote their actual business then more investigation needs to be done. I find it strangely amusing that their call center informed me that it could take up to 30 days to have my telephone number removed from their call list. Yet Mr. ******, under pressure, informs me that it has now been paced on their internal Do Not Call list. How many other consumers have to endure the constant calling because they didn't know where to turn? There are actual internet chat rooms that exist just to discuss the non-stop calling from this company. I accept K Designer's resolution. However, something still smells with this company.

Complaint: Subpar wall preparation prior to installation/application of lifetime Dream Coat to my house. original project#XXXXXXXX completion date: 10/08/2009. There was a repair, on 11/01/2011, of failing/bubbling Dream Coat due to application of inferior putty/filler to lower south facing walls. i have found dry rot and holes in a second level "pony" wall resulting from (same) improper preparation of surface of south facing second level (pony) wall which was undetected during last repair. This damage is only visible from lower roof top which is why it was never detected last year when K-Designer crew came to repair the application of inferior putty/filler of siding damage on ground level. This newly discovered spot (i have photos) appears to be yet another example of inferior preparation prior to application/installation of Dream Coat with LIFETIME WARRANTY to my house at **** ****** St, ******** CA.

Desired Settlement: onsite repair of damaged wall and any underlying structural damage due to water exposure and recoating with Dream Coat with promised lifetime warranty.

Business Response: Initial Business Response
Dear BBB: We contacted Mr. ****** today, and are making arrangements to go to his home as soon as possible for inspection and to resolve any issues he has. We will keep you informed when customer is satisfied. Thank you.

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) They replaced siding in other areas both times they have visited my house to apply (lifetime) Dream Coat. We all know Dream Coat applied to an unstable surface is has a limited useful life. I know they know this because their initial sales pitch included a description of the amazingly permanent properties of some kind of special putty/filler that would be applied to areas that needed it before application of the (equally amazing) Dream Coat. They have admitted this unsatisfactory siding was repaired in an unsatisfactory way with substitute putty/filler of questionable durability. This was done without notifying me anything was wrong with the siding in question. Now they want me to replace the unstable siding on my house before they will re-apply Dream Coat. Why didn't it get replaced one of the other two times they visited my house like the other bad siding they did replace? Why wasn't i notified?

Final Business Response
email sent to: Mr. ****** 11/8/2013 *****, I've spoken to our VP of Production as well as our CEO ***** ****** with respect to your project. Mr ****** has authorized the replacement of the deteriorated siding in the areas depicted in the photograph's you've provided. The replacement is being offered as a good will gesture rather than a repair we're responsible to make. Also, once the siding has been removed it may become apparent that roofing and/or flashing may need to be replaced. If this additional work is required we will show you where the problem is located and any such work would be your responsibility to repair/replace. Complaint: SCAM ARTISTS!!!! This company called me 3 times today and did not leave a number, the third time I answered and was greeted with a sales pitch that we had been selected to receive a free home consultation. I am on the Do not call registry and my wife does siding and roofing! What does a sales pitch have to do with a charity?

Complaint: Received unsolicited mail from K-Designers regarding an "Official Federal Assistance Program: KD 13" that was dishonest. Received unsolicited mail from K-Designers regarding an "Official Federal Assistance Program: KD 13" that specifically designed and worded to hide the true business. K-Designers solicited home and/or work phone numbers from homeowners to request information about "government assistance programs" available to help pay for energy efficient upgrades. In reality they are contracts selling windows, doors, insulation and installation. The envelope and insert look and are worded in a way that can be easily confused with an actual government agency. I have never requested information from K-Designers or this supposed "Energy Efficiency Center" located in Rancho Cordova, CA as I'm not a homeowner. Pictures of envelope and insert can be provided if requested.

Desired Settlement: I wish to be taken off their solicitation list and to never be contacted by K-Designers or any of their affiliates again.

Business Response: Initial Business Response
We apologize for any inconvenience you may have felt by receiving our mailing. We have placed your name and phone number on our internal "Do Not Contact" list. The Federal Assistance Program flier that we sent to your home was not meant to confuse or mislead our customers. There are several government assistance programs available for homeowners to take advantage of and that can help homeowners remodel and upgrade their home to make their home more energy efficient. We are simply giving homeowners the opportunity to learn about and take advantage of these opportunities. We again apologize for the inconvenience that you felt you may have received and have taken actions to see that you are not contacted again unless you initiate the contact. If at any time you do receive additional communication for K-Designers, please feel free to contact me. Complaint: Windows installed improperly. Impossible customer service and many promises unanswered. In 2010 we had windows installed through out our entire house when we were expecting our first child. We thought it was the best way to solve our climate problem in home and make it comfortable for a newborn in January. It was tough to finance the huge expense, but you do what you have to. Enter the longest most frustrating three years of our lives. From problems at installation (the contractor cut himself and bled all over my bed and carpet, then spilled mineral spirits on the carpet, nightstand and alarm clock and DIDN'T TELL US). The contractor had his daughter come out with a carpet shampooer to try to "fix" our carpet and that was that. We had to eat the cost of our ruined products. Our first summer with the windows five of the windows leaked under the sill, causing water damage. After SEVERAL calls someone came out to caulk the windows and we were told they were fixed. We then had a storm and a piece of the flashing blew off. Again, it took several calls to customers service to have someone come out and put it back on. I was then told it didn't even come from my window and it wasn't a necessary piece (odd, wonder where it came from and why it was laying right under the window and there was water dripping in the window). I showed the water and damage to the guy and he had the nerve to tell me I just wasn't closing the window properly. After an impossible three years of this back and forth, them saying they would show and they don't, the problems never being resolved and us hemorrhaging more money to repair damage, we come to this summer 2013. The window that was most recently "repaired" by them was leaking again. We placed a call to have it fixed and we were told someone would contact us. We didn't hold our breath as we have been through this before. September 12th began a crazy rain storm in Colorado. My house flooded. Our living room window might as well not have even been there. Rain poured in from the top and bottom of the window. Our walls were ruined, our carpet, padding and subfloor soaked! When our FEMA agent came out to assess our damage it was discovered that the flashing was put on backwards and the water was pooling at the top and leaking straight into the wall. I realize this storm was incredibly strong and we would have flooded in parts regardless but to find out that part of it was related to human error by someone who specialized in this was a tough blow. I have sense called K Designers here in Lakewood CO again. Took persistence to get a hold of someone, complaint was sent out, I was told I would be contacted in 24 hours and I have not heard from anyone. We have now been through two afternoon thunderstorms and my house is completely open to the elements. The drywall has rotted away and we have to use duct tape to try and keep water out. There is water damage in the frame from the last three years of leaks. I am frustrated to tears to be dealing with this AGAIN on top of all the other things we are dealing with in this flood. It really does pay to do your research, in depth, before going with a company for such big projects and expenses. The customer service is terrible, the product and/or labor is faulty and we still pay $200 a month for this three years later. Buyer beware!!

Desired Settlement: I would like my windows fixed with a guarantee that they will work the way a window is supposed too!! I would love reimbursement for our losses but I doubt that would ever happen.

Business Response: Initial Business Response
On September 25, we went to the customers home to address their concerns. The leak has been fixed, and the homeowners father is repairing the sheetrock. Our Production Manager will be going back to the home on Monday or Tuesday next week to finish the trimout on the inside. We will keep the BBB informed as soon as customer is satified. Thank you.

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) My window was finally properly framed on the outside. The siding was fixed where the installer mutilated a seam putting the window in. I was told that the install was done poorly by the contractor that put them in. I realize a siding should not be above a window but that is how most homes in my neighborhood are but they dont have the leaking issues we have. I am now waiting on the drywall and interior window trim work to be completed. We have sense found moisture in another wall where a window was leaking, they framed that window as well so I am hopeful. I will report back once the rest of the work is COMPLETE.

Final Business Response
Our service people are going to customers home tomorrow (October 10) after 11:30 a.m. per customers request. We will be fixing the drywall and window trim. We will notify you when job is done, and customer is satisfied. Thank you.

The paint coast was ($1,500) That is where we replaced our windows. They cost us a lot of money ($5,000 for two windows). Some of the sidings and seals are pilling off the windows. And the way they have done the blinds were incorrect. They should have valances, but they didn't put them on because of the wrong measurements. Please note, the charge stayed the same, no one even said anything about reimbursing us, but they sure charged us the full amount for them. Complaint: During installation of siding many items were damaged. Company seldom returns calls. In October, 2012, their crew installed new siding on our home. They rushed us to sign off on the job before we really had a chance to look over their work. We found many problems when we carefully inspected the work. Complaint: I keep receiving phone calls from this company day and night, several times a day even though I am on the Do-Not-Call-List. Representatives from this company continue to call even though I have requested numerous times to be removed from their calling list. Calls come in several times a day. Tonight I received a call at 8:15 pm! When I answer the phone, the caller either hangs up or there appear to be children playing on the other line. Possibly, their sales calls are handled from overseas as they do not appear to even respect normal business hours. All in all, one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever dealt with. K-Designers would be last on MY list to purchase a product from.

Complaint: These people are continually calling my phone number. The phone rings a couple of times but there is no one there when I answer the phone. These phone calls keep waking my husband, who is in hospice care and close to death. I called them back, and spoke to "******" who claimed to be their head of marketing. They are trying to claim that they are not violating the no-call list because they do some charity. I told them that I have been a nonprofit director for 30 years and would never resort to their tactics. "******" said that "different businesses run differently".

Desired Settlement: Shut these people down. They have no conscience. At absolute minimum, if the BBB accreditation means anything at all, you should not be providing that to a company that is under government investigation.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
Dear Ms. ******: We apologize for any inconvenience our marketing program may have caused you, and placed your phone numer on our internal "Do Not Call" list. However, we are registered with the State of Colorado to call on behalf of Building Youth Around the World. In the past year we have raised over $30,000.00 to help young people. Most people are unaware of this statue but I assure you that we are abiding by the statutes of the State of Colorado. As I've said before, your number has been placed on our Do Not Call list. Be aware, that other people registered with the State of Colorado to co-venture with a charity for fundraising, may call you. If you wish to be removed from their calling list you would need to make that request. We again apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you. Consumer's Final Response
Removing my number from their call list is not sufficient. This company needs to be stopped from its long-known, widespread and abusive telemarketing calls. Even if I took their claim that they were making a call to raise funds for a charity at face value, that call to my number on 7/17/13 was illegal. The Colorado Secretary of State web site shows that K-Designs/Judson Enterprises's registration as a fundraiser allowed to solicit funds in Colorado was suspended on 6/28/2013. Please see: http://www.sos.state.co.us/ccsa/ViewSummary.do?ceId=XXXXXX. I have referred the email from K-Designs claiming that they were raising charitable funds to the Colorado Secretary of State for investigation. The claims of raising funds for a charity are a thinly veiled ruse to get around Do Not Call registrations. There is no way that I and others across the country should be getting fundraising calls for a tiny nonprofit in Utah ($34,000 in revenue in 2011) that was started as an Eagle Scout project. I hope that whatever government action is in progress shuts these people down.

Business' Final Response
Dear Ms. ******: I am sorry you are upset. We have done what you have requested and removed your number from our calling list and placed it on our Internal "Do Not Call" list. Complaint: Trying to get a Senior Citizen to do remodeling to their home. This complaint is regarding my mom. A sales rep came to her home to talk about remodeling. The rep stated that they could only contact one home owner in each town and she house was the one that was picked. My mother is 92 years old. She doesn't need to remodel and that rep should know better. Let someone take advantage of his mother and what would he do. Not only that the FIRST rep gave she a quote AND THEN a second rep showed up and gave her a higher quote and she gave one of these reps a check for $100.00. She did say the check was returned and we have not seen it go though her bank. MY MOTHER DOES NOT NEED TO REMODEL HER HOME. If she is on a call list, TAKE HER OFF. DO NOT CONTACT HER AGAIN.

Desired Settlement: Do not contact her.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
We do not place homeowners on our internal Do Not Call List when the request is from a third party. We are careful when we contact senior homeowners to be sure that they are fully aware of making good decisions for themselves. Along with our conversations with them one of the standards used in making that determination is that they live alone with no other family member or caregiver. We find that many senior homeowners want to remodel their home and finish their years in a more comfortable or enjoyable environment. Your mother has not requested to us to remove her telephone number from our internal calling list. If she made that request herself, then we would honor her request. In researching this matter, we have found that all of our employees have followed our policies and procedures. If you have any other questions, you may contact me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX or *******@k-designers.com. Sincerely, Larry D. Judson President/CEO K-Designers

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Below is my response to Mr. Judson. Mr. Judson, I was not going to respond to your message but you have made me angry. This is what you stated "We are careful when we contact senior homeowners to be sure that they are fully aware of making good decisions for themselves. Along with our conversations with them one of the standards used in making that determination is that they live alone with no other family member or caregiver." I find this completely believable because if they are alone, your reps can talk them into anything! Then on top of making that statement, you say "We find that many senior homeowners want to remodel their home and finish their years in a more confortable or enjoyable environment," AND HAVE TO PAY YOUR COMPANY, probably $12,000 to $14,000 to get something done that doesn't need to be done. That statement also tells me that you prey on seniors. Shame on you! Then you say "In researching this matter, we have found that all of our employees have followed our policies and procedures." They sure did - finding out that she lived alone and didn't have a caregiver and taking advantage of that. Nice job Mr. Judson! TELL YOUR COMPANY IN OMAHA TO STAY AWAY FROM AND DO NOT CALL MY MOTHER.

Business' Final Response
Dear Ms. ******: We apologize for any inconvenience you feel you may have experienced. Complaint: Caller tried to sell me home improvements, while claiming to represent a charity. She was rude, spoke over me when I tried to inform her I was on the do not call list, and insisted it was her God-given right to call me. I finally had to hang up when she refused to stop speaking.

Desired Settlement: Cease and desist deceptive telemarketing practices. Issue letter of apology for their rude employee's behavior.

EMAIL RESPONSE TO Mr. ****** ******, April 30,2013. Mr. ****** ******, Our Call Center manager, ****** ******, sent you an email on Monday, April 29th to let you know that we have put your phone number on our Do Not Call list. In that email he explained that we are licensed by this State of California to call on behalf of the charity - Building Youth Around the World. We also have the ability to listen to all our calls as they are automatically recorded. When listening to the call we discovered that the call lasted only 42 seconds. Our representative followed our script exactly. She was polite and tried twice to explain to you about our connection with Building Youth Around the World, and you raised your voice twice at her and then abruptly ended the conversation. Immediately when the call ended, she followed our standard procedures and placed that phone number on K-Designers internal Do Not Call list. If you still have any questions, you may contact me at (916) XXX-XXXX ext. 6720. Thank you, ****** D. ****** President/CEO K-Designers

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The response does not address the issue at hand, that their employee was rude, continued to talk over me when I tried to speak, and that the company was trying to sell me home improvement services.

Business' Final Response
We listened to the call and our caller was not rude. We have taken you off our calling list, and apologize for any inconvenience.

Complaint: Failure to re-attach piece of fascia on the house after a commitment to do so. We previously had soffits and fascia put on by K- Design. In January, 2013, we had about a five-feet piece of fascia that was blown off in a winter storm. I had first called in February to inquire about getting it re-attached (I have the piece). I was told that "If we (K-Design) put it on, then we'll get it back up". I did not hear back for about a month. I called again and was told that they would come out "sometime" and put the piece back on. Again, I waited. This time, it was about three weeks before I called back. For the third time as well, I was told that they would come out, possibly that night, although that did not happen. Approximately another three weeks go by. This time, I receive an estimate in the mail of an $8.50 labor charge and a $100 trip charge if I wanted the job completed. I have been patient on this ordeal and understand that I may not be a high priority. However, I was told that it would be re-attached without any of the charges. I don't think I'm any different than any other person and feel that it probably would be better business practice to explain any charges up front.

Desired Settlement: This would be maybe a 15-minute job with the right ladder and tools. I don't have a problem paying the labor cost, but I'm not willing to pay the $100 trip charge.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
On Thursday, May 16, our branch production manager called to say the that service for Mr. ****** was completed today without the trip charge. Our branch manager also indicated that Mr. ****** was satisfied with the service performed. Thank you.

Complaint: Harassing and repeated phone calls including late night calls. These calls are unsolicited and unwanted. After repeatedly requesting that K-Designers take me off of their call list I still receive unsolicited phone calls. I did not request that they call me and in fact the name that they asked when they called the first two times is not even the name of a resident at this address. I informed them of this and asked that they not call here again. Since that time I now get phone calls at least once a day with no one answering on the other end when I pick up the phone to ask them to please stop. On 5/7/2013 at approximately 6:00 pm I re-dialed the number which called me and left a message for them to please stop calling otherwise I would file a complaint of harassment with the Better Business Bureau. At approximately 9:00 pm on 5/7/2013 (the same day) I received another phone call where no person answered when I picked up the phone and said "hello". All that I ask is for the company and/or their promotional department to stop harassing me. Their website says that they are a BBB Accredited Business since 02/02/1998.

Desired Settlement: Stop to their harassing and continued phone calls. A letter of apology from the company.

Complaint: He (Marty) kept using the amount of $8,000.00 every time he mentioned putting on the siding, windows (3) and 3 storm doors and by time he got done. They charged me over $54,000.00 for the job on my 2 bedroom small house & garage one of the interest charged was 15.99% which is as much as my credit cards. He called and made all the loan all I did was send a small sheet of paper signed in to pay K-Designers. I was in the process at the time what was wrong with me and was on pain pills and by the time I found out I had bladder cancer they were done with the job and i was in surgery and fighting for my life when I got out of the hospital I was already late on payments and can not catch up.

Desired Settlement: I would like to have the bill cut in half at least. They have charged me more than my house is worth.

Consumer's Final Response
Im sorry that I did not get this to you by March 22 2013 but I have been busy with fighting my bladder cancer. do not accept K Designers way of settling this problem. He has wreaked my credit which has excellent all of my life. It is embarrassing He wants to charge me to put a new roof on my house and lump the 59,000.00 on a home loan. His siding was not supposed to cost me that much He told me 8,000.00 for the siding 6,000.00 for the soffits (eves) and he said I had 8,000.00 credit and the window doors and purga would not cost me anything thank you for your consideration in this matter

Recieved call from K-designers, told that they were working with low-income families to make their home more energy efficient. Sales pitch sounded good - scheduled appt. Another call came in the afternoon making sure we had enough money to cover at least 50% of the project. Researched K-designers online - numerous complaints & government action. Tried to call & cancel appt. For every extension that I chose, I heard the same recording. Finally, tried customer service number. I was given the wrong number. Complaint: The contract promised from the salesman was never completed. Getting a run around on customer service. When K-Designers first called my husband set an appointment, they then never showed and no phone call. When they did call, a few days later, set up another appointment I told them that with my work schedule and all the events happening It's not a good time and alson told them of our financial situation. That it's not good. We could never afford siding on the house. But, they kept saying how they could get us a great deal and since I was returning customer get a GREAT discounts there and such. They made an appointment and sent 2 sales people to explain and I swear wore my husband down after being there for 6 hours. I heard him saying to the sales persons that he could not afford it unless it was under $200 and wouldn't pay on it for the first year. I was in/out due to my events going on. The sales persons were "no problem", "we can do that". Then they send out there guys, put the siding on the house. We recieve from 2 different companies payment information. One from Wells Fargo stating $182 starting in March and one form EnerBank for $102 starting in March. That's NOT under $200 and first payment due in a year. My husband tried to call the sales person and explain, he said "No Problem". We'll fix it. After no call from them, my husband went to the office in person and they said they could make the first couple payments to Wells Fargo and just not pay ont he EnerBank (well, that's not sound advice for your credit). Then they said they would work on it. We recieved no phone call AGAIN. We both went out to the office and they said for us to call Wells Fargo and re-negotiate, there should be no problem. We go home, call Wells Fargo, they said that they go by with what K-Designers send to them as the contract. So, I call the AGAIN, and said that they need to call them and re-negotiate because they won't even talk to us. They sounded surprised while I'm getting a run around. *****, director, stated he would check into and give to Thursday. I had to call him because Thursday was coming and going. He did answer and I explained to him the run around I feel that I'm getting, you promised my husband something that your not delivering, I wasn't present for the final negotiation and now my husband signed somehting that he thought was what the salesman had promised. I called again today, after he said to wait Another week, the receptionist stated he was there and she put me in his voice mail. My husband would rather have them come take it back off and never deal with them again BUT, ***** stated he didn't want that and wants to work something out. He isn't returning calls and now were stuck with a payment we can't afford. I really feel that the sale was made with my husband not knowing what he was signing due to them stating that he's getting what he had asked for. Now, we are stuck with not knowing as well what to do to afford it and their customer service of not delivering and leaving us out in the cold.

Desired Settlement: It would be nice if they lived up to the salesman's agreement of what our payment should be and follow through with their customer service instead of us always tracking them down.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
We talked to Mrs. ****** today. They have two payments for the remodeling work we did for them, totaling $284.00 per month. They are hoping to get them reduced to near $200.00 per month. We told Mrs. ****** that we would speak to the two lenders to see if their desire could be accomplished in some way. We should know by Monday and be contacting them. We will notify you of the results.

Business' Final Response
Ms. ****** ******: I want you to know that we have contacted Enerbank and they have agreed to convert your term loan over to a one year same-as-cash loan. This means that you will not have any payments or interest for one year. After one year you can pay it off in full , pay part of the balance and roll the remainder into a term loan, or place all of the balance into a term loan. They will send you new paperwork showing the change for you. I am also sending you the rebate that ****** ********, our Omaha Manager said you would receive. You should receive the rebate in a few days. I 'm sorry for any misunderstanding that our people may have unintentionally created. If you have any more questions, please contact me and I will get you the answers. Thank you for allowing K-Designers to remodel your home. This is the second time I have had the same issue with not getting the phone call but I did leave it on the answering machine which was on the paperwork I was given. They were going to have someone come out this week and check into the issues but we got snow so need to wait for that to go aay again. I have cleaned up allot of the debeas already but there are als issues with areas the siding wasn't caulked properly do to the caulk being cold and not sealing right. There is also the issue of them cutting the wires to the house an not saying anything for the cable and internet and I was charged $50 for a service call as well as no internet for 3 days and being charged for late fees because I couldn't get on the internet to pay my bills. Once they come out and go over the areas includin under the front window where it meets is stained with something yellow.

Complaint: Misrepresented themselves as a charity and violated state and Federal no call list. Although I'm on the state and federal No Call list, K Designers called me and stated they were working with a charity in some other country and proceeds from their home improvements are going to charity, so they don't need to follow no call listings. Rep came over and used high pressure tactics to make a sales presentation. He couldn't explain why I was contacted in violation of no call; and didn't have details on the "charity" they worked with.

Complaint: Company fails to honor Do Not Call List, written Cese and Desist, and false number to bypass call-blocking. K-designers was told verbally several times to remove my phone number from their call list as I am registered in te national registry. On one occasion the rep on the phone said they were a charity and did not have to. I told them they were a home remodeling company and not a charity. I also told him that even if they were, they are obligated to remove any number upon request. On another occasion, the rep said he would call me back the next day. I said that asking to be removed the list means they cannot call me. After several more calls, I officially contacted the company through e-mail and asked to be removed. They have tried to contact me three times since. Once at 8:30 p.m. I have placed their number in my phone company's call blocking. They bypassed the Comcast's phone blocking system by spoofing an extra "1" in front of the number.

Desired Settlement: 1. The first thing I am requesting from this company is to remove my number from their complete database and any company they use for telemarketing. I have never done business with this company. I would like a written e-mail that this has been done. 2. If the calls continue, I will be seeking the maximum monetary damages under California and Federal telemarketing laws.

Complaint: failure to complete job of installing leaf relief system on new gutters I have just learned that job was never completed. Item #5 on contract "Install leaf relief on all gutters"..."job includes... new leaf relief system" K Designers of Clackamas, Oregon Representative = ******* ******** Date of contract = 4-7-10 Paid $4116.73 for 277 feet/linear of gutters, 8 downspouts, leaf relief on all gutters. Being an elderly woman, was unable to climb a ladder to check on the job so only checked it from ground level. Last week had moss removed from roof and learned that leaf relief system was not installed on any corners of roof. The pieces missing are 12 to 28" long and have caused gutters to become clogged with large debris which the leaf relief system would have prevented if installed completely. I have photos to prove the job was not finished. It is obvious the workman was taking advantage of knowing an elderly woman could not see, from ground level, that pieces were missing .

We responded to the BBB last week on January 14, indicating that we were reviewing the complaint from Ms. ******. We have been attempting to call her several times with phone numbers provided, but her number has not been working. Yesterday, Thursday, January 24, Mr. ****** finally made contact with Ms.******, at a number that works. Per conversation with Mr. ****** and Ms. ******, an appointment has been set for Monday, January 28 to go to her home and meet with her. We will be able to respond to the BBB by Tueday next week on the outcome of the meeting with her. Thank you for your help.

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not agree with the amount that is in question. I reiterate that there were no energy upgrades installed in my home, and that the loan opened in my name with View Tech financial is either fraudulent or in gross error. There was only exterior paint applied to my home. I have had the exterior paint job on my home appraised from approximately 4,200 to 4,500 dollars. No where near the amount that K Designers is trying to collect. I have already submitted the contract agreement to BBB. There was never a contract agreement entered into for any energy upgrades, just exterior paint.

Business' Final Response
The following letter was sent to the customer: April 5, 2013 Dear Sherrie Gray, This is my third letter to you requesting that you allow me to come to your home and meet with you to discuss your questions. I feel that it is only fair that you allow me to inspect your home and then meet with you. I can bring our paperwork so we can review it together. For your understanding, I want to remind you of the product that we installed on your home was not paint. The product is a coating product that is installed differently than paint and performs different than paint. It has a lifetime warranty and is much more expensive than paint and goes on three times thicker than paint. I don't know if there is something else that I can do for you, however I am willing to meet with you at your home and discuss everything with you. I am fine with you having a third party present if you wish. Please let me know what time and day would work for you and I'll try to fit that time in to my schedule. Complaint: Charged five times the going rate for a new garage door and entry door. I am a small senior citizen with poor health. I live alone. March 11, 2013 To: Better Business Bureau We contracted with ****** ****** on January 23, 2013 to furnish and install our premium garage door with Sunburst glass and our America's Dream Series Premium Entry Door with Sunburst glass, frame and a complete unit. We remove and haul away the old doors, jams and frames when installing the new doors. We installed the new garage door on February 20th and she signed a completion form indicating everything was fine and that she was happy. We returned on March 4th to install our custom built entry door unit and she refused to let our installers start that installation. Our entry door units are a premium custom built unit that is made by a company in Tacoma, Washington and was shipped to our office/warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah. This door unit will only fit properly in Ms. ******'s home because it is custom made to fit her front door entry opening. Our Salt Lake city Manager had an appointment to meet her at her home on March 7th to resolve her concerns and she cancelled that appointment. Our manager has tried to contact her by phone four times with no new appointment yet to meet her. Our manager will try to visit her today. By Utah law, we must file an Intent to Lien for non-payment today, which is ten (10) days since working on the home. We obtained a loan for Ms. ****** at her request and that increased our cost. Please see enclosed a pricing breakdown that our manager is prepared to give to her at her request. Our pricing is fair for the quality of products that we sell. We only sell the highest quality products and if people try to get the lowest price, they have to purchase low quality products. Complaint: The call center from K Designers has repeatedly called my phone despite my asking to be removed from the call list numerous times in the past 12+ mos. Well over a year ago, we attended a home and garden show in Sacramento. We left our information to be contacted about some remodeling at our home. When the K Designers' call center contacted us initially, we declined the in home estimate and clearly stated that we were NOT going to be doing any remodel at this time and requested that they not stated that we would contact them when we were ready for estimates. We were contacted again that same week and again declined. Since that time, we have received at least a call a week from the K Designer call center and have, with each call, requested that we be placed on a DO NOT CALL list. Today, I received yet another call from K Designers. I asked to speak with a call center manager and spoke to "****" who assured me that I would be placed on the do not call list; as did the last 10-15 call center staff that I spoke to. Consumers should be aware that when you offer your number for potential in home estimates that K Designers will call you several times a week for over a year. This is excessive and annoying. After the first call, we would have been more than happy to contact K Designers about a future remodel project. However, since the last year's worth of annoying phone calls, I would only recommend that other consumers not offer their phone number to this business.

Desired Settlement: I would like written confirmation that my phone number has been removed from the call center list and that they have formulated and implemented a better system to remove consumer phone numbers when requested. Again, as one point I might have given K Designers a call back for remodeling work, however after the persistent annoying phone calls I will surely be taking my business elsewhere.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
Our policy has always been to follow the "Do Not Call" rules. When a homeowner makes the request to be removed from our call list, we do it. Because we contact over 400,000 homeowners mothly, it is possible that occasionally one person may accidentally be missed. We are not happy if that ever happens, and if we find out about it, we fix it immediately. We are able to look up the records of calling ****** ****** and we found that we had only two conversations with her in the last 15 months. On February 4, 2013 she requested to be placed on our Do Not Call list and we did place her on our list. She has not been called since and won't be unless she re-gives us her phone number and requests that we call her. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Complaint: Calling and doorstop sales are excessive harassment. Repeatedly asked them to stop calling or coming to my house. The most recent phone call was 7:04pm on 1/24/2013, in a long string of phone calls and multiple visits to my door. Their phone number is X-XXX-XXX-XXXX. I'm actually a previous customer of this company (in my old house I purchased $8000 worth of windows). In my new house I told them I was not interested, but the phone calls and visits continued. They even left rude voicemails! I told them many times to stop calling.

Desired Settlement: I just want them to stop calling me and stop coming to my house.

Complaint: I had my front door installed in Sept 2012, and as date Jan 2013 I can not keep my door shut, I can not lock it and it will not latch. Door does not latch and can't secure my home as of Jan 2013. On Sept 20, 2012 they installed a new door and windows, for $6327.72 with payment of 130.00. Well this is the date they got paid, they installed the items in Oct but since I won't pay them until the items were fixed had installation problems. I had problems from day one with them, They came out and fixed, Which I thought were fixed, and now my door will not lock or even latch closed. I called them on Jan 25 and they told me 24 to 72 hours to get back to me. I called again on the 28th and was told within the next 24 or 48 hours i should hear back, today the 30 of Jan I called and couldn't get anyone to answer except message machine. I need my front door repaired today. I got up this morning and my door was standing open, if it cold and I have birds worth thousands of dollars, that I can't lose or anyone could walk in. The door didn't work right from day one but after they came out and FIXED? it that is should be okay. This is the second time I had issues with the door. But since I held payment they were quicker to get here to so call fix it. They blamed the problem on the structure of my home. Also they installed my light switch on the outside of the wall and now it is hanging loose from the wall. it was recess before so you couldn't hit it now it get bumped all the time. I just don't want to wait months to get this fixed. I can't secure my home. The first time I had a problem with them, they said they didn't have anyone coming my way soon to get it fixed.

Desired Settlement: I don't want to play phone tag for months before someone gets back to me to get this problem fix ASAP. I want my door fixed right so it will close and lock, and my light switched fixed right. They said the light switch had no place for it. If they can't get it fixed today by their workers then they need to hire someone who can, to do it in the next day or ASAP. Would like it today.

Complaint: We purchased 4 windows from k-designers with a Lifetime Guarentee. This was the selling point from the saleman. These windows were not cheap and they were the BEST EVER. Maybe for the first few years but then the seal went out on one set and it took a year to get them replaced. Since that replacement over a year ago two more windows have done the same thing. I reported this 1-4-12. Was told that they would come out and measure windowswhenever they were in the area. I waited 3 months with no response. I have made 17 calls to this CO with messages left on voicemail or with the secretary who apparently has no better pull in getting calls returned. The manager has given me these explanations when I have actually spoken to him. l. Yes, we have had trouble with Traco windows and they were good in their day, but they do not make them anymore so will have to see what Tracowill give us to do this. Maybe we will have to replace them all.2. No, we will just replace the ones that are bad now. Have crews in Minotwill get back to you. 3. ***** says send a fax with what another co will replace them for. Did that and Manager called right away and said we cannot do that. 4. Will get windows ordered and have crew in Harvey take care of it. 5. Will call MINN branch and see if they can do it. 6. Will order windows and have crew in Minot do it. How many times do you have to order the windows? I have been told lie after lie from these people just to appease me and get me off their back. Why are they allowed to do business in the state. If I had access to the internet and read the reviews from people who do business with them and their complaints, theywouldn't have gotten THAT FOOT IN THE DOOR. I never dreamed that I would have to replace windows this soon. I have replaced the rest of the windows in my house from some local and have had NO problems with them. People buy local, even if it costs more, at least you have someone you can deal with FACE TO FACE. I would never do business with this company again

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation) I want the windows replaced as soon as possible since I have already waited almost a year for it to be done. If that is not possible then send me the $1400.00 it will cost to have another company do it.

Dear BBB: We have contacted the customer, and we are ordering them (2) new windows, which the manufacturer will stand behind them. When the windows come in, we will notify you when the customer is satisfied. Thank you.

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) ****** responded with a call on Tues. 21st that the windows were in and he wasn't sure if he was going to ship them to us directly or if they were going to a Minnesota crew which is working in Jamestown, ND. He wanted to know what the weather was like here and I told him it was -20 below and too cold to put it. He agreed. I am not having openings in my house at that tempature. When he decided what he was going to do he said he would give me a call. I told him I was out of town today Jan. 23 but he could call my cell # and let me know which he was going to do today but has not called at this point. I will satisfied with their response when the windows are installed and done so correctly.

Complaint: Failing to provide replacement siding for extreme fading when siding was sold as Lifetime Maintenance Free. May'12-called K Designers to complain that their Lifetime/Maintenance Free siding had faded extensively in just over three years on the south side of house. Called on 5/21 and again 5/23 at which time I received a response that my messages were forwarded to ******* Stone to send out the warranty packet. I received a letter dated 5/23/12 and packet of info from ******, Warranty Services Div. asking for 4 items. I mailed the packet to ****** including a personal letter outlining each of the 4 items required in their letter by certified mail. I followed up on 6/27 w/K-Designers via phone. I was told my claim did not include samples (which was not a requirement in their letter) & the pictures were not adequate to determine the claim. I was also told they did not receive their form (which I had included in the packet behind my letter). I told her I had copies of everything resent them via email on 6/27. 6/28 ******* responded that she had forwarded all the info to ****** and that she had contacted *** in Omaha to have someone take a sample as I indicated I was not knowledgeable or capable of taking a sample nor would I allow a piece to be removed without another piece to replace the sample piece. I followed up again on 7/22 per email to *******. ******* responded on 7/23 that she was following up with ******. After another 2 weeks I sent ******* another email on 8/10/ that I was following up again. On 8/13, I received a call from ******* indicating that ****** had not received the samples or their form letter. I informed her that the form letter was part of the packet of info I sent (they lost the form) & I had also re-sent via email 6/27. I reiterated that if they need a sample, they need to come and remove it and replace it. I did not install the siding & they cannot expect a normal customer to remove a piece of siding & replace it, and if they were unable to do so, then they need to send an adjuster. At that time, she conferenced ****** on call & talked to Susie S. It was agreed during the call that ****** would have a rep (Josh Schaefer) in Iowa the end of August & would be in contact with me to stop to get a sample. 9/6, I contacted ***** ******** at K-Designers (Omaha office) and indicated, it was now after August and I had not heard from anyone at ****** to pick up a sample. I called again on 9/24 and left a message with ***** that again, I had not heard anything. ***** called & indicated they would have a rep (****) in Des Moines on 9/28 to stop & get a sample. **** did stop & took a piece of siding & replaced it with a new piece. **** even admitted to excessive fading in discussion that the siding is supposed to have color technology to withstand the sunlight and also indicated, that I would have never been able to pull a sample especially w/o the tool he had used. After another 4 weeks w/no communication, I again followed up with ***** on 10/22. ***** indicated he would find out have someone contact me the next day. On 11/1, after not hearing back the status as promised, I called again. ***** indicated they were still waiting for the status from ****** and that they were backlogged. I again, expressed my concern of the entire process. On 11/20, I received a letter dated 11/16/12 that the claim was denied due to "no manufacturer defects covered by warranty". This is supposed to be NO MAINTENANCE/LIFETIME siding which was how it was sold and represented in K-Designer's brochure that never requires painting. So how can they claim LIFETIME when it doesn't last more than three years...this is clearing false advertising and if there product is so poor quality to not withstand normal Iowa climate (especially no longer than three years), K-Designers should not be allowed to do business in Iowa.

Desired Settlement: Siding should be replaced on south side of home where extensive fading has occurred since the siding was sold as "Lifetime Maintenance free" that "will never need painting". OR the cost of the entire siding contract should be refunded so that I can replace all of the siding with same type/color with a different vendor if they are not honoring their Lifetime warranty as if they don't honor this claim, what about if there is a next time.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
Dear BBB: We are working with the manufacturer to replace the siding. It will be completed in December. We will follow-up with the BBB when it is completed. Thank you.

We have to push weight against the door to open and close it. Additional work done; replacement of siding on part of our house. Wires left hanging outside the house. Complaint: I wish to cancel the contract and stop all further contacts from this company. On 5/21/2012, my wife and I were approached at our home by a "marketing director" from KDesigners based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. At first we thought it would be a good idea to have them replace our aging siding, soffits, and rain gutters. He measured everything and we picked out the colors and we gave him a required down payment. The start date was to be 5/21/2012 and a completion date of 6/21/2012. A few days later the same marketing director called and said that his boss had told him that our choice of colors would make our home look funny and that he had changed them to another. He told us that he would bring the samples by for us to look at but that he was on his way to Idaho to see another customer but would come by in a week on his return. Weeks went by, and no marketing director. About the 20th of June, we were contacted the production manager, telling us they were ready to start and that our product was in. My wife told him that was impossible because we hadn't approved the colors yet and then explained what the marketing director had said. He then , very arrogantly, stated we didn't have to deal with marketing director and that he was the boss. He still didn't send up the new colors. Since we hadn't heard from them up to now, we had begun some major remodeling, which we told him. And again, very condescendingly, told my wife well, "well I guess we can use your product on another job and to contact him when we were ready for them. It's now 27 Oct 2012. We probably get called at least 4 times a month, still telling us that they have our product ready (we still have not seen the product described by their marketing director) and have now hired our own siding contractor to do the job and have explained that to the last 2 callers from KDesigners. Now the boss is leaving us messages to call him to resolve the work and I'm sure if we do, he will tell us we have signed a contract and that court action will follow. We just want to go on with ours lives and forget we even let KDesigners into our home in the first place. A warning to anyone approached by this company - don't walk away, RUN.

Desired Settlement: Return of the down payment and no further contact withi this company or any employee from said company. In addition, cancelation of any implied or written contracts with said company.

Letter sent to: ****** ****** Dear Mr. ******, I am in receipt of your complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau. I apologize for the mishandling of the agreement with you by the Salt Lake City Branch. We will be returning the $100.00 deposit and I am releasing you from the agreement. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (916) XXX-XXXX x6720 or *****@k-designers.com. Thank you.

Business' Final Response
The correct information regarding our agreement with Mr. and Mrs. ****** is that they were building a room addition on their home and they asked us to wait until the room addition was finished before we intalled the siding as per our agreement. We contacted them several times since May to see if they were ready for us to come, and they were still not ready for us. We ordered in special colors of the siding and stored them in our warehouse waiting while waiting for their contractor to finish with their room addition so we could proceed. At this point, we have been the one inconvenienced and we must now try to re-sale the special ordered siding to another homeowner. However, we feel we have done everything we could to please the ******'s. We have cancelled the agreement and are returning their $100.00 deposit at their request.

Complaint: Entered contact w/K-Designers on 2/4/12 for 10,261.15. Doors, windows w/warranty. For 6 mos have been trying to repair work and no luck. Need help. On 2/4/12 entered contract w/K-Designers and the contract had warranty to come out and fix any factory defects, broken windows for a certain amount of time. Well, haven't had the work done for even 2 yrs and have had problems the total time. Three attempts to correct the problems, three attempts to come out and to no avail, we are still trying to get them here to re align the installs. Frames, screens ect. For 6 mos, I have been put on the back end of appointments only if someone was in the area to for other appointments, they could swing by my address and take a look at my property and try and fix the issue. I am really disappointed with the service of a quality paying customer, and that K-Designer will not honor their contract to fix any factory defects. I pay over $300.00 dollars monthly and can't get anyone out to even look at the products unless they are in the area. Unacceptable on the company's part. I am looking at a Civil Lawsuit just for them to actually pay for their own work and materials, because I can't get them out to do the work right. I would hope that I am not over reacting but after 6 mos, I am actually tired of playing phone tag even with the Corporate Office.

Desired Settlement: I would like to suggest that the K-Designers pay for their own material and work thus making my account with the finance company a 0 balance because I feel that the finance company nor I are getting what we are paying for. I am financed through Wells Fargo with one install, and Security Service Financial with the other install. I would consider this a fair settlement.

Complaint: This was a high-pressure sale late at night. We were also threatened with a law suit upon cancellation. *** ****** was the sales rep. He stayed at pur house from 5:30 pm to midnight. We asked if we could have a few days to think about it and get some other estimates, but he wasn't leaving without our signature on the "contract", the terms of which were not fully explained. He also knew we were leaving in a few days for vacation and would not be able to get estimates until we got back. When we got back, we got some other estimates and decided to cancel the project until further notice. I immediately called EnerBank and asked them to close my loan acct, which they did. My husband then called that same morning to cancel the project. He talked to *****, the sales mgr, who referred him to the admin. asst., *****. She was very nice, said she had filed a cancellation order, and that someone would be calling from corporate, but the order was cancelled, no problem. Late that night, *** left me a msg. that "the truck is loaded-up and they will be ther tomorrow to get started.". I called him back to inform him that the project had been cancelled. He said,"I can't take cancellation orders over the phone, you'll have to call the office in the morning." I said I already had, and he said it hadn't. So, I called the next morning, talked to ***** again, who said,"I filed the cancellation order yesterday.". I asked her to check just to make sure, and she transferred me to *****, who said no cancellation order had been received, and the crew may already be on their way to my house. He said that since I didn't cancel within three days, I was obligated to do the project or pay a 25% fee for canceling. He said he would have the legal dept. call me in a few days, but he couldn't keep people from coming over to my house to start this project. Then he threatened to hang-up on me. I again asked him to assure me that the project would be cancelled. He would not give me an answer and threatened to hang-up again. I said I didn't think it was proper to hang-pu on a customer, especially since I have done business with them in the past and may do so in the future, just not right now. He then hung-up on me. The total amt. for the project was to be $7561.77, but I have withdrawn the loan application, so have not paid them anything, just wasted a lot of time, been lied to, badgered, treated rudely and been hung-up on by a business with whom I am now a former customer.

Desired Settlement: I want them to stop threatening me with legal action. I also want an apology from ***** and an assurance that they will not bother us again. Also, an admission that they lied to me would be nice.

Complaint: When having windows replaced on the house, there was water damage/rot surrounding the windows. Job was finished without addressing the rotten wood. Fall of 2008 my house siding was replaced by K-designers, and the wood and insulation on the back of the house was replaced due to water damage. Aug. XX XXXX windows were replaced on same wall. The same wood rot happened again. The upper window was the cause allowing water into the framework of the house. After a few phone calls between the installer (*****) and the work director (****), and myself and ****.By early evening I was told that the final decission was up to the *****. With only an hour of daylight left, The installer rushed to complete the job before dark. There were also a few warranty items that needed to be addressed. The rotten wood was then covered up and the siding reinstalled and the windows sealed. I was told the since the wrap was opened up the moisture could escape, and now it was only damp and not wet. I was reassured by ***** that "the black mold isn't as bad as people are led to believe". I filed a claim with my insurance company, and the claims adjuster came out and looked at the pictures that were taken and he said that it should be up to the installer to catch and remedy the water problem. I spent over $17,000 on the new siding and now $4,975,Account number XXXXXXXXXX with Ener Bank USA, and the back of my house is still rotten.

Complaint: I am very disappointed with the actual product and the service that I am receiving from KDesigners. I enlisted the services of KDesigners to install windows, rain gutters and garage doors. Right after they installed the garage doors, I noticed that the double garage door was not installed properly. I called them and asked them to come back out and repair the improperly installed door. One of the original workers eventually arrived at my home to look at the door and he acted like it was not a problem, but that he would send someone else out to look at the door. No one else ever arrived, and I unfortunately got busy in my own life. I called again in regard to the garage door and in regard to a problem with the sliding screen door. It was always difficult to connect with the company and to arrange for service.Last night, I pushed the button to to close the double garage door, and the top of the door, that had never been properly installed began to fold in half from the 2 points on either side that had never been adhered to the top plate. My son disconnected the garage door opener, and had to manually force the garage door closed, so that we could have home security. It is now being held with bungee cords, in the hopes that no one will be able to break into our home. At this time we are not able to open and close our garage door, so my son is not able to drive his vehicle. I spoke to a '********' this morning from the sacramento Branch and she was short and curt with me. She spoke to me as if their improper installation of the garage door was my fault. I am a single mother, who during the time of the installation was fully 'employed' in the home, and working full time out of the home, plus my mother had Alzheimers Disease, and then passed away. My plate was full, without having to tell K-Designers how to do their job. They are a SUB-par company and do not deserve a high rating with the BBB. Could that be possible, as their website states, as I had to introduce the company to you?

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Replacement I believe that they should replace my double garage door at no cost to me. The complete failure has been due to their improper installation of the door from the word go and the company's failure to repair the door once the mistake in the installation was brought to their attention. The company representative verbally blamed me for not calling them more often to complain about the improperly installed door. She said I am to pay a show up fee and for door replacement. A complete con game.

K-Designers has arranged with Ms. ****** to have the door reparired. Since her home is a long distance from our Branch office, we have arranged a door company in Palmdale to take care of repair, and we have spoken to Ms. ****** and she has agreed.

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) KDesigners did NOT arrange for repair of my garage door. The door got to a point where it was stuck in an open and diagonal position, providing no security for my home. I called ******* Garage Doors, and they were able to send a repairman right away. This man was a miracle worker! It took him about 2 hours, and he worked his magic to cause the door to once again open and close. Wheels had been forced off and the entire track on one side of the door was completely twisted, and this gentleman, has given me a working door. The door is stronger now that it was originally, as he used the proper sized 'strut' at the top of the door, and attached it to the door, the way it is supposed to be installed. PROPER INSTALLATION! What a concept! He also installed another strut, just a little further down on the door to strengthen it. The problem now, is that due to the folding that the door had begun to do, due to the improper parts used and the improper installation of the KDesign team, the windows in the top panel, are popped out of their place, and there is creasing and denting of all 3 top panels of the door. I do not see the denting and creasing in the bottom panel, yet that does not convince me that there is not physical damage to that panel as well. ******* garage door company told **** ******, of KDesigners, that the entire door needs to be replaced, and quoted their price. The woman at ******* told me that KDesigners had said that they were looking at replacing only the top panel, which would be ridiculous. Their improper installation is what caused the physical damage not only to the entire door, but also to the metal runner that the wheels roll in, as the door opens and closes. KDesigners sent me a check for $165.00, which was the amount I paid to ******* for their expert repair. I have called **** ******, and informed him on his voice mail that I have no intention of cashing that check, as I am expecting them to pay for the replacement door, that I will have ******* Garage Doors install, certainly not KDesigners. We have most definitely NOT reached a proper resolution. Thank you for all your help. The status of my complaint is still open and unresolved.

Business' Final Response
On Wednesday, August 29, K-Designers received an email from Ms. ****** with an estimate from another company for her garage door. In response to her email with the estimate, we again offered the $840.00 which is K-Designers cost to install a new door and all of the hardware. If she chooses to use another company, that would be her choice. Again, we feel this is a very fair amount to resolve this matter. If she would like to accept this offer, we asked that she reply to our email, and we will send a check out right away.

BBB's Final Determination: Consumer accepted resolution offered by the business.

Complaint: KDesigners has failed to refund our "paperwork processing fee". We have been trying since Jan 2011. We signed a contract with K-Designers to prepare/replace, install, caulk and seal all windows in our townhome on Dec. 23, 2010. We paid $100.00 (check #3112/TCF Bank) for the "paperwork processing fee". On this receipt, it states, "In the event that project financing is required and unavailable, the processing fee will be refunded". That same day, we faxed the appropriate paperwork to the company to receive financing. This financing was denied and we called on Jan 23, 2011 inquiring about our refund. We were told by the receptionist, Jennifer, that Mark Whiting (head of financing)would return our call, which never happened. We then called again in June, were told we would get a return call and a refund. We have yet to receive a return phone call nor a refund. We have called both numbers (1.800.530.5931 and 303.231.0044) several times this year and the answering machines say they are full and we are unable to leave a message or get through.

Desired Settlement: At the very least we expect our $100.00 processing fee refunded.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response We apoligize for any inconvenience we may have caused Ms. ******, and have issued and a check today for $100.00.

Business' Final Response
Mr. Judson spoke with Ms. Line-Trinh on August 14, and she indicated that she was still interested in a window purchase, so Mr. Judson made her an offer on a window purchase. She would get back to him, if she was interested further.

Complaint: Purchased horrible looking, misrepresented, hard to open windows and gutters that do not work. Have not been able to get them fixed. I paid approx $7,000 for windows and gutters 3 yrs ago. False advertising: Their salesman said they could custom build my windows to look like picture I submitted to them. He was excited and said he could use my custom windows in their ads! None of what he said was true. Of course, I never saw this marketing rep again! Customization: This company had no idea how to make the windows I wanted. I gave the salesman a picture and oh, yeah, we can do those. Well, my windows look nothing like the picture at all. Very sloppy, very unprofessional glued together, pencil molding ****! My picture was a molded grid attached to the window on the outside that could be removed to clean. Price: I paid much more because the windows I wanted were "custom" windows. I would have been better off buying stock windows. Cleaning and maintenance: The windows I received are nearly impossible to open and clean without going off tract and scratching the window sills. Consequently, they have to sit there dirty and horrible looking. Installation: their window installers seriously damaged siding on my house and window sills. I had to hire a carpenter to repair. Gutters - were not installed properly. When it rains, they overflow and water puddles around the house foundation. I have to catch the water in very large buckets and empty in other parts of the yard nearly every time it rains. Fist the Company said leaves were the problem. I had gutters cleaned out but they still overflowed. Company has told me many, many times that they were going to fix. Twice they sent gutter men out to look at the gutters. Nothing has yet been fixed. I called another company to diagnose the problems and was told the gutters needed "diverters" and slope adjustment. I will most likely end up having to pay this company to do the work and go to court with them which is a huge investment of time that I do not have. Rebates: I was eligible for a $500 utility rebate on the windows but I needed an invoice to submit to PSE. I asked 4 times for this invoice over an extended period of time. I finally received the invoice from them - AFTER it was too late for the rebate. This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. They are absolutely shameful. Take my advice and go buy your gutters and windows from another company that actually cares about providing a good product and customer service.

Desired Settlement: I want gutters fixed before it rains again (I'm very tired of carrying buckets of water away from house foundation) so they work or I want my money back or I want them to pay for someone else to fix them. Either remove these awful windows and refund all of the money so I can go to another company to buy windows that (a) I can actually clean (b) that look like the picture I submitted to them (with outside grids). Or, I want them to rebuild with outside grids (as per picture I originally submitted to them) and can easily clean. Also, it was their fault I did missed the PSE rebate, so I want to be reimbursed $500 for that too.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
Our Branch Manager called and left Ms. ****** a voice message on August 15. In the meantime, a service representive from K-Designers was to be at her house today, August 17 to repair the diverter on the gutters. Our Branch Manager will try to contact her again today, to address any other issues she has. We will report back to BBB the outcome. Thank you.

Complaint: Sale person's misbehavior Just to write a few words to warn people from getting a sale call or doing business with K-Designers. Their sale person does not follow sale protocol and respect your privacy. They come to your house while you are not at home or late at night and do things at your property without your permissions. When I was not submitted to their high pressure sale tactics, the sale person's words become insulting. I had to ask the sale person to leave and not to come back. Yet, the same sale person popped up 9:15 at night uninvited and scared us to death. When complained to their Marketing VP Mr. Burgress. He implied that it is the way of doing sale call and I was just expecting too much. The sad was that Costco use them as a vendor.

Desired Settlement: No Settlement. Just wish that BBB post this and people may avoid the same hassle.

Additional Notes

Complaint: We were told by the salesman that our siding has a lifetime guarantee as long as we live in our house and gave an example that was not even covered In 2004 a sales rep from K-Designers (***** ************, I think that was his name)came to our door to sell us siding. He gave the presentation and told us during his sales pitch that the siding would be covered for life as long as we lived in the house and for fifty years after we moved. He gave a specific example of a person that had gotten their siding replaced because their BBQ grill was too close to the house and had melted the siding. We asked many questions about the coverage. He told us repeatedly that it would be covered for life if "anything" happened to it. We were impressed that they were such a good company and would stand by their product no matter what.(according to what this salesman had told us) We invested over $9000 to have them side the house with the idea that we could get any problems fixed if any ever arose. Here we are eight years later with cosmetic damage on our siding from something running into the siding and cracking it and thinking, "it's okay, we are covered, that is what we were told." When I called the company they told me that the problems I had were not covered in the warranty and that I would not only have to pay for replacement pieces, but would also have to pay to have a serviceman come to replace the cracked pieces!!!! Michelle with customer service then read the warranty to me because I was very upset that nothing would be covered on my almost $10,000 investment and that I would have more out of pocket expense to get it fixed. In the warranty it said specifically that damage from a BBQ grill was not covered and that cracks were not covered either unless it was from a manufacturing defect. I understand that they will honor their warranty, but I am more upset about being lied to directly to my face in my home about the product being sold to me. I realize I could have searched for the warranty and looked at it to see if our particular problem was covered, but because of all that the sales representative told us, we automatically assumed it would be covered. What angers me the most is that we were lied to in order to get the sale. We were young and naive to think that the representative for this company would be completely honest. Everyone is after your money in one way or another. This company should have sent someone that was better trained and should have been more specific about what is really covered. Having him tell us repeatedly that "everything is covered" was not right. I feel like we were targeted because we were young and inexperienced with looking over contracts and as long as he told us what we wanted to hear, even though it was a lie, than he would get the sale. Our home is small. Siding should never have cost what it did, but we were under the impression that the lifetime guarantee that covered "any problems" as we were told was the reason the price was so outrageous!!! Will we work with K-Designers again? No way! Will we ever refer them to anyone we know? Absolutely not, we will defer them from shopping with a company like K-Designers!

Desired Settlement: We want K designers to stand by what their salesman said and honor the aforementioned warranty. We have some siding and trim pieces that need to be replaced. As a small business owner I know how important customer satisfaction is throughout the lifetime of the products and services sold. I also understand how imperative it is to have satisfied customers so they will continue to refer other future customers. So K designers needs to stand by their sales reps and keep satisfied customers. lets schedule the appointment for July 26, 2012 at 9 AM!

Business Response: Business' Initial Response To: ****** ****** From: ****** ******/President-CEO This is our response in answering your complaint to the BBB. First, let me remind you that the warranty was sent to you immediately after the job completion (8)eight years ago. The warranty clearly states that damage caused by foreign objects is not covered under the warranty. Even though we are not responsible for the damage caused by the falling object that caused the damage, this time only, we will repair the damage for you. In the future for a similar need for service you would need to make a claim on your homeowners insurance policy. Our Salt Lake City branch will be calling you to arrange a time to make the repairs for you.
