Complaint: we brought the Nissan Exterra 2001 for air-conditioning diagnostic and repair last july 2013. also have smog done. we were told that their was a leak on the tubes and needs to be replace and also add freon, paid for the service $477. we only use the car 3 - 4 days only and have not use it for months (trying to save gas and insurance). the car was park in the garage all those days and regularly warm up the engine. Now we were thinking of selling the car and when we run the car last week the air conditioning was running but no cold air coming out. We called Overstreet auto repair friday and brought the car monday but they were busy. we were schedule to come back wednesday (today) and was told that their is another leak and they will charge us another $400.00. i was upset because last year Nissan dealership offer to repair the leak and replace parts for $600.00 but when i have the air conditioning check by Overstreet they estimate less than Nissan so we decided to have them fix it. they claimed that they will not know if there is another leak if we don't use the car all the time so they have to charge us again for the repair. i think we have been dupe by this repair shop. we are going to bring the car to another shop and have them examine what they have done. but i would like to have this matter investigated. i have choose this auto repair because they were recommended by Costco, AAA and yelp but sad to say they did not deliver as expected.
Desired Settlement: refund, they did not diagnose the problem correctly and did not solve the air conditioning problem. we travel to their shop 3-4 times and did not get the treatment that we deserve as a customer.
Business Response: REFERENCE #******** ****** ****** brought his 2001 Nissan license # ******* in for smog and to check a/c system on 7/29/2013 invoice #***** (See Attachment)-As noted on the invoice the a/c system was empty of Freon, we added Freon and found low pressure hose leaking. ****** authorized the replacement of the hose on 7/29/2013 After hose replacement and system at full charge we checked for addition leaks with ultra violet lite and with electronic leak detector. No leaks were found at that time. ****** was advised in person that if vehicle quits cooling we would recheck for additional leaks at no charge. ****** called our shop on Friday 5/8/2014 about his Nissan a/c wasn't cold and we advised him to bring it in and we would recheck it, no appointment was made at that time. ****** showed up on Monday 5/12/2013 for us to look at his vehicle. Are schedule was full and we ask him to bring it back on Wednesday 5/14/2013. ****** Brought the Nissan on Wednesday as scheduled and we checked the cause of the a/c not cooling Reference invoice #***** Dated 5/8/2013 (See Attachment) We found a/c compressor was on and system low on Freon. We checked for leaks and found high pressure hose from compressor leaking (Hose covered in dye).We contacted customer for the cost of replacement of hose and customer got upset. Customer declined repairs and picked up vehicle. I explained to the customer that a/c system is original and all components are subject to failure and that after this line is replaced that the compressor could be the next part to fail. The low pressure hose on the a/c system is around 30psi,the high side hose is subject to pressure well over 300psi on a hot day. At those pressure any weak component could fail. Reference the attached invoices and when we replaced the first hose high side system pressures were at 200psi and no leaks we found. That's why we add dye to the system to detected any additional leaks after system has been operated for extended time. ****** stated that we would not know if there's leaks without driving vehicle. That statement is very correct as we found no other leaks after first repair. Now he stated we would charge him for repairs. We did check for additional leaks at no charge and of course we would charge for additional repairs if was for another part we have not replaced. Again the vehicle is 13 years old and has 199466 miles all the a/c parts are original. The dealer or any other shop would have followed the same repair procedures. We only replaced the failed part at time of inspection. Thank You ****** ********** ###-###-####
