Complaint: I had my vehicle worked on at this auto repair facility for a rear wheel shim-kit installation & four-wheel wheel alignment, also to have an engine oil sending unit replaced due to an existing engine oil leak. Estimates for these repairs were given to me by this facility when I had the vehicle inspected by them prior to the worked being performed, I agreed to these repair estimates for the vehicle. On the day I left the vehicle with the repair facility I advised them that the "check engine" light on the instrument panel had been on all week and agreed to have them run a computer diagnostic on the vehicle to isolate the problem for a cost of $150.00 The service writer contacted me the following day by phone to inform me that diagnostic computer code indicated a faulty/failing EGR (exhaust gas recirculation valve). She informed me the cost to repair this item would be $90.00 for the part and $107.00 for labor to install the part, for a total of $197.00 which I verbally agreed to over the phone. On the day I went to pay the repair bill, the invoice indicated a charge of $271.58 for the new EGR valve and $107.00 labor to install this part, for a total of $378.58 I advised the service writer of the billing mistake ($271.58 vs $90.00) for the new EGR valve. The service writer then told me that I must have misheard her on the phone pertaining to the price quote for the new EGR valve and would not adjust the bill. Upon further investigation, I contacted several auto parts vendors (ie: Auto Zone, Kragens, NAPA, O`Reilly`s etc.) and found the that average cost of a new EGR valve for my vehicle is approximately $74.00
Desired Settlement: I am requesting that this repair facility refund me $181.58 this is the difference of what I was quoted and I agreed to for the cost of the new EGR valve ($271.58 - $90.00 = $181.58)
