Complaint: Called for a free estimate. Roofer came out when no one was home, without permission claims to have gotten up on the roof and sealed leaks. $85 charge I called Action Roofing on Friday December 7 to ask about an estimate. I was told someone could come out the next day to do a free estimate and if we didn't like the estimate just tell him no thanks and that would be the end of it. I waited at home all day Saturday and never heard from anyone. 3 more days went by and still no contact so, Wednesday December 12, I called again and talked to the same lady. Without asking my name or any information I was told that they were very busy and they would get here when they could. At this point I gave up on them and started calling other roofing companies. The next day, December 13, we were out of town and when my wife returned later that night, we had two messages on our answering machine. The first was at 1:57 saying that the owner was on his way out to take a look. An hour later there was a second message saying that since no one was home, he had taken it upon himself to climb up on our roof (without our permission) and fix some problem areas. We were never given an estimate,nor were we given the chance to explain what kind of services we were looking for. How did he have any idea that what he was doing had anything to do with why we had called him in the first place? Then the message said that we owed $85. For what? I have no idea what has or has not been done. I do know that the service we were looking for was not performed. The next day, I called to talk to the owner and he proceeded to tell me that I should be thankful that he did it instead of having to come back and "charge you a lot more." When I asked how I could be sure the correct repairs were done, I was told that they are not "that kind of business." After doing some research, I called and informed the receptionist that I had talked to in the first 2 phone calls that I didn't feel comfortable paying for services that I neither requested or authorized, much less witnessed. She then proceeded to scream at me and try to make feel likethis whole ordeal was, in some way, my fault. I will be having another company come out and do an inspection of the roof. All in all, I have no idea if this company is honest or not, but I do know they are not the least bit professional.

Desired Settlement: I feel like I shouldn't be held financially responsible for sevices that were done while I was not home, without my consent and without proof that there was any work done.

I, ****** ******, did reply to this complaint on December 21, 2012. I printed it out and have a copy in my file that reads. I do appologize for amy inconvenience we may have caused ******. We responded as quickly as possible and did our best to resolve the problem. We are an honest business and would never charge a customer for services not rendered. I am sorry he feels like that is something we would ko. I tried to tell him I would pull the invoice and he would not be responsible for the $85.00 however, we would not be able to service his roof in the future. He did not hear me. We agree with his resolution.
