Complaint Detail(s)

Additional Notes

Complaint: Sent to collections without being notified I had a doctor bill that I made payment arrangements for. The company and I had an agreement of 25.00 per month and on 10.26.2012 I called for the pay off amount and was told I was sent to collections. I was never informed I would be sent to collections and especially when I had a payment arrangement in place. I want the collection to be reversed since I paid off the balance on 10.26.2012. I pay all of my bills on time and have excellent credit and this company has broken an arrangement agreement and has put my credit score in jeopardy.

Desired Settlement: The collection reversed from my credit

Business Response: Business' Initial Response
Patient was seen and treated in our office on January 16, 2012. Patient was contacted on June 7, 2012 set up payment plan. Payment plan was offered at $50 per month and patient was given a courtesy adjustment of $34.77. Subsequently no payment was submitted or received in June 2012 or July 2012. A payment of $50 was finally received from patient on August 3, 2012. Patient was contacted on August 3rd to notify patient that they were delinquent by one month and needed to make payment immediately to prevent them from defaulting on the agreed payment plan and her account from being turned over to a collections agency. Patient called back and notified our office that they were only able to pay $25 per month however the payment plan for $25 per month was not accepted by our office since the patient was already delinquent her in established payment plan and needed to bring her account current prior to establishing another payment plan. Patient was contacted again on August 24th, to remind the patient that she was in default of the approved $50 payment plan and that her account may be turned over to collections. Patient was again contacted on September 5th and October 3rd with no response from the patient. Patient's account was then sent to collections on October 15th. Patent was contacted multiple times by phone as well as sent statements which were mailed (7/5/12, 8/8/12, 9/5/12, 9/26/12) that included notifications on each statement as well. Finally patient contacted our office on October 26th where patient made a payment in full for the balance and our office agreed to have the account removed from the collection agency. Although our office communicated with the patient on multiple occasions and the patient was delinquent and in default of the established payment plan, our company has contacted the collections company to have the account reversed as a courtesy since the patient made payment in full to bring their account up to date. We also, as a courtesy, confirmed with the collection agency that no credit reporting was done.
