Complaint: My father-in-law passed away suddenly and my husband and I called his homeowners insurance agent, *** ******, at Placer Insurance in Roseville to ask questions about his policy coverage after death. We called and left messages three days in a row with no return calls even after leaving message that the policy holder passed away. It was not until I called The home office of Allied Insurance in Iowa that we got a return call from Placer Insurance though it still was not the agent, *** ******. Her refusal to return our calls regarding the policy holders death is DESPICABLE.

Desired Settlement: I have filed a Department of Insurance complaint asking for *** ******'s agent license to be either suspended or revoked. The agency that employs *** ****** should also be held accountible for her bad service regarding her refusal to return calls when there has been a death of a policy holder.

Business Response: Placer Insurance Agency is responding to a complaint filed on 1/20/2014 assigned case ID ******* with the Better Business Bureau. We take every complaint very seriously and when the findings are valid we make the necessary corrective action to prevent any future incident.

During the investigation we found our staff did not meet the Agency expectation standards and failed to return customer call in a timely manner.

We understand this is a sensitive time for the Schlaikjer family since loss of their family member and wish we could have done a better job to prevent any added stress to an already difficult situation. Management has counseled the staff involved and taken corrective action. Our apologies go out to their family.
