Additional Notes

Complaint: I had my car's hood repainted. I complained about the poor quality of the work and they said a better job would make the rest of my car look bad. Purchase date 6-20-12 Workfile ID ******** VIN ***************** Written by********** ***** Payment amount $400 Payment method MasterCard

Desired Settlement: I prefer a refund. I would like my car repainted to my satisfaction but I no longer trust these guys to do the work.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response Contact Name and Title: ****** ******, President Contact Phone: (209) XXX-XXXX Contact Email: *****@gmail.com Mr. ****** originally requested a "clean up" job on his hood which was in poor condition because he was going to trade it in soon. Now, Mr. ****** explained that the hood was supposed to be "like new." The hood had previous bodywork that now shows because the new paint is glossy. We would have charged accordingly had we thought Mr. ****** wanted his hood to look like new. We can block and re-prep and repaint his hood to look like new because we do care about honesty and integrity, as we have done business in Stockton at this location since 1976, and won't allow Mr. ****** or a $400 hood job to taint our reputation. ****** ******

Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I originally requested my hood be repaired and repainted. I do not know what a "clean up" job is. Those are their words, not mine. I was told the hood would be stripped down to bare metal, repaired, primered and painted and it would "like new". Again, their words, not mine. I was never told that my $400 would only get me a poor quality job nor was I given an offer or quote for a better job. These guys have been in business in Stockton since 1976 so it is reasonable to expect that they would have the expertise and experience to notice and repair flaws such as previous bodywork and not paint over them and pass the blame on to the new glossy paint. This does not sound like "honesty and integrity" to me. It's just one more excuse in addition the one they made previously about how doing a better job would make the rest of my old car look bad. I did not contact the BBB about my measly $400 hood job in order to taint this business' reputation as they sarcastically suggest. I merely expect them to live up to that reputation. Just because I am not a high dollar customer does not mean I should be treated in this manner. If they are offering to re-do the job and get it right this time, then I will accept. ****** ******

Business' Final Response Mr. ******, Any time you would like to bring your car in for us to take care of the hood, just drop it off. ****** ******
