Email Phishing Scam Hijacks BBB Name, Again!

WARNING! A new phishing email scam using the BBB name has arisen in the marketplace, targeting businesses.

How the Scam Works:

Businesses have received emails claiming to be from BBB regarding a consumer complaint.

The emails look quite realistic - they use correct grammar and follow formats often used by BBB. The email refers the recipient to either a zip file attachment, or an online link with an address that appears to be from a local BBB. However, if you hover your mouse over the web address (the part that begins with http), you can see that the real address is not BBB at all. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT OR CLICK ON THE LINK!

Businesses are urged to delete suspicious emails and keep their anti-virus software up-to-date at all times.
